Meet Dani Christakos of The Mobile Flower Bar in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dani Christakos.

Dani, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I stayed at home with my kids for 17 years. When my first child went off to college I realized that I wanted to get back into the workforce but only on my terms and definitely doing something fun and creative! I have always loved floral arranging so I thought why not start a POP UP Floral Bar that travels around the valley bringing flowers into homes for private events and into wine bars and boutiques for public events! Women always tell me that they have no idea what they are doing and when they leave a POP-UP event they leave with a beautiful arrangement. It is so rewarding for me to empower women to learn a new skill and have fun while doing it. My events change seasonally so people come back monthly. This month we are doing a succulent pumpkin and into December an evergreen grapevine wreath. The fun never ends!

Has it been a smooth road?
Going out on my own was a risk but I felt like I had nothing to lose. I wanted to do things my way and have more flexibility creatively. Sometimes managing the business side, social media and the creative side is difficult but I can do it all the way that I want it done which is really nice!

Tell us more about the business.
I am known for bringing fun floral arranging events to you! Those change seasonally so things are always current. I am proud of myself for starting my own company from scratch still with two kids home and one in college. I juggle a lot but it was important for me to do something for myself and my creative side is my outer! What sets me apart is probably that I am super fun to be around. This is a fun event, not stressful at all!! People always leave with a smile on their face and the thing that I love most is that I have met the most amazing women along the way!

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Honestly, my dream is to keep this small. I am almost at the point where I need help but I am desperately trying to accommodate everyone. What I am hoping to do in the spring is building a workspace where I can have my events. All my events would be held in my workshop! I’m super excited about the possibility of that happening!
