Meet Dan Caprario, Matt Fulton, Katy Arnold and Steve Coburn of The Whining Pig

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dan Caprario, Matt Fulton, Katy Arnold and Steve Coburn.

Dan, Matt, Katy and Steve, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
The Whining Pig was established in 2013, as your neighborhood beer & wine bar. In its conception, the main focus revolved around wine tasting and bottle purchases with the idea of craft beer being secondary.

Throughout the first year, the concept continued to evolve. With the addition of 125 craft beer options, the focus shifted from solely wine and now included the ever-growing market of the craft beer world. In addition to the beverage shake up, the u-shape bar was also conceived.

The Whining Pig wanted to be known for more than the drinks they served, but become an establishment that focused on building relationships with its patrons and promote customer engagement. The new bar design allowed for easy conversation with the bartender and promoted interaction between customers. The addition of a variety of games spread around the bar allowed for our guests to have an easy path to conversation with one another.

The Whining Pig has now become more than just your neighborhood beer & wine bar, but a place where the stresses of life can be set aside for a brief moment in your day. A place you feel welcomed and respected. A place where people listen and never judge. The Whining Pig is not a bar; it is an experience.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As any new business grows there are always obstacles, but overall it has been a smooth growth of the company. Something we always keep in mind is the challenge to expand while not feeling corporate. We overcome this by hiring the right the people and the owners stay very involved in each of our locations. We also participate in all of our build outs so we ensure each location is unique and has the feel and vibe we are looking to achieve.

Please tell us about The Whining Pig.
We are craft beer and wine bars and are very well known for our extensive list of options. We have over 125 craft beers to choose from and 50 different wines and the lists are always rotating. We do not serve much food but do offer 5 different specialty grilled cheese sandwiches, that are very popular. Our bars are also scattered with old school games to pass the time and a nice way to break the ice and get to know the customers you are sitting next to. Although, we are proud of our list, we like to be more known for our customer service. We always introduce ourselves and shake hands when someone new comes in. We like to learn about our patrons and create relationships.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Random question but I guess, it would be scoring the game winning goal in the state finals for my high school soccer team.
