Today we’d like to introduce you to Dame Daniels.
Dame, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Well, I got started in music when I was around 12. This was around the time the Wu Tang clan dropped there album, “Wu Tang Forever” and had the Song, “Triumph”. That song is what inspired me to rap. I’m originally from Salinas, CA. I was also dabbing into street life, at the time Gang violence in Monterey county was at an All time high, this was the late 90’s-Early 2000’s. Around 15 I caught a Felony, I told myself once I get through this I’m leaving California, at the same time I got more and more into music. I got on mix shows on 102.5 Kdon in Monterey county while still in high school, California, did small car shows and sold my CDs and tapes hand two hands all this while charged with a felony. Once I beat the charges, I wound up in Atlanta, Georgia around 17-18 and start pushing my music from there, which was around 2004. Me and my homeboy H. greed’s first performance was at the Legendary Crowe’s nest, in college park Ga around 2005. Around 19, I’ve worked with Houston Rap Legend K-Rino, Dj Vlad of Vladtv, Ap.9 of mob figaz among others at the time. I’ve continued to put out music constantly as possible. I ended up joining Bay Area rap legend Mac Dre Thizz Ent under the Thizz Latin branch ran by Goldtoes, this was 2011. I’ve worked with Spice 1, J-Diggs, Casper Capone, cartel MGM, Lucky Luciano, the list goes on, to this day, I guess I’ve stuck to the Same formula, quick summary, today I am not pushing music independently and in different regions such as Arizona.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well, I was homeless in Atlanta for a while, I was dealing with A Drug addiction I am now ten Years clean to this Day. Also fought a Crazy child Custody Battle that lasted six and a half years, it was a challenge but we got through it. Not a lot of family support, to this day I can’t count how many of them bought music or even supported what I wanted to do. Overall, it took a lot for me to get to where I’m at today.
Please tell us about your work.
T4 Records is a Label I put together from the ground up. It was the Apt # I had in East Atlanta, and I just incorporated it into my label. We specialize in Artist Development and Marketing. My goal is to make it a one stop shop.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
When I’ve performed at The AZ Hip Hop Festival 5th and 6th Annual. The reactions I got from both years were incredible. Even going from State to State n people know who I am making me proud as well.
