Meet Dallin Huso of Flamingo Pools in East Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dallin Huso.

Dallin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As a kid, I grew up working for my dad’s pool company. During my 10+ years with him, I learned a lot about hard work, integrity, and of course, cleaning pools! As I entered my twenties, I had the desire to start a business of my own, and since I already had a foot in the pool industry, I thought my best bet would be to start a pool maintenance and repair company. At the time I was working for another pool company, and during my time there I almost decided to quit and walk away from the industry for good, because I hated dealing with the chemicals. I always smelt like chlorine, my hands were constantly dry and cracking, and I’d been burnt a few times by muriatic acid! But then I had a thought- what if there was an alternative to the harmful chemicals that could still keep our pools clean, but also safer? Or at least something to lower the number of chemicals needed to keep the pool algae free? The more research I did, the more I found out about the potential harm some of these chemicals could have on us while swimming- and the more I knew it wasn’t time for me to quit on this industry. And with that, Flamingo Pools was born, with a focus on allowing people to enjoy their pools, and a goal to allow them to do so in a healthier bathing environment. Our first step towards this objective is a mineral treatment that we provide, which uses minerals to treat your pool and keep chemical levels to a minimum.

Has it been a smooth road?
I’ve experienced a lot of ups and downs throughout this past year growing Flamingo Pools to where it is today. I have been lucky enough to see a lot of growth, and I am currently working with the best employees I could ask for. That being said, I’ve also dealt with a lot of stressful late nights and early mornings, tough financial situations, and difficult experiences with previous employees and customers. The trick is to not get too happy with the highs and not too sad with the lows. Staying level headed allows me to get through the ups and downs of being an entrepreneur!

Tell us about your company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
At Flamingo Pools, we specialize in weekly pool maintenance and repairs. What other companies consider “premium” service” is what we consider standard service because our customers deserve nothing less than our best effort. Every week, we send out detailed service reports to our customers via email, which contains a checklist of what we did, chemical levels, the chemicals added to the pool, and a picture of the pool after it’s been cleaned.

As part of our effort to embrace newer technology, we’re all in on mastering advancements in pool automation to understand how it can make your life easier! What sets us apart as a company, is that we’re on a mission that’s bigger than just cleaning pools. We’re currently researching and testing different ways to reduce and eliminate potentially harmful chemicals that are being added to your pool. How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The pool industry has a lot of great role models and mentors. For the most part, everyone in the industry does what they can to uplift and educate one another. I see this helping the pool industry continue to rise and be viewed as a more respectable industry in our society. The two biggest shifts we are seeing that will continue to rise in the next 5-10 years are automation (being able to control your pool equipment from your phone at any time), and more mineral based treatments to lower the number of chemicals added to our pools.
