Meet Crystal Phan of Crystal & Love in Chandler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Phan.

Crystal & Love has been an idea in the making for years – decades even. As a society, we often hear “what is our purpose”, “what are you passionate about”, “do what you love and you won’t ever have to work”, all sorts of stuff. But how in the world are we supposed to answer those questions? So truthfully, it took me a while to get started.

The things I did know were that: I wanted to combine the many things that I loved into one outlet. I knew that
1)I love, LOVE!
2)I feel the most grounded, raw, and my truest self when I am adventuring outside. Nature is my nourishment.
3)My creative brain is always fighting for a form of release in drawing, painting, or any other creative outlet.
4)Regardless of any role/career, I always felt something was missing. I was always a great saleswoman and “businesswoman”, but there was always this feeling that I needed to be creating something that would evoke a bigger impact and impression on people’s life. I just didn’t know what.

The spark that brought Crystal & Love to life was a ten day trip to Kauai, Hawaii. That trip was a reminder that living confidently to our most authentic and compassion hearts is the key to healing and spreading positive vibes – not only in our own lives but in the lives of every person we interact with.

Being surrounded by nature, in its purest form, allowed me to surrender to myself. Surrender from this idea that I had to THINK and ACT a certain way or FEEL and BE a certain way. It’s so easy to mentally remove any façade that I subconsciously feel obligated to when I’m in nature. It’s just me, the dirt under my feet, the breeze in my face, unlimited views, and the wind and birds whistling in my ear. In those moments outside, there is no need to fear external factors and judgments; thus, there is no need to succumb and filter myself.

With that, Crystal & Love was created. The crystals and gemstones being nature; jewelry making for my creative mind; and running a business for my knack in sales. I wanted to create a company that exudes beauty and class, simplicity, empowerment, and love for any type of lifestyle.

I put my heads down for two months and officially launched in October 2019. I used Canva as my marketing agent, Shopify as my POS and sales platform, google as my business advisor, and word of mouth and Instagram to really spread the word. It is still in the works, but it has been a wild and amazing journey so far.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I think every road comes with it’s learning lessons. I tried I few different advertising methods yet didn’t see the ROI. I tried I few outlets for selling but didn’t find it was worth my time or ROI. I dove so fast into it that I didn’t vet out my market enough before some huge investment in resources and wholesale purchases. I’d say the biggest lesson was learning that slow and steady wins the race.

Please tell us about your business.
At Crystal & Love, we create hand made jewelry that is powered by love and nature. We create rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, anklets, and necklaces for men and women. The biggest difference is the meaning that comes with each piece. Almost all the pieces have raw crystals/gemstones or hand-stamped personalization. Historically, crystals and gemstone bring about powerful intention and meaning. The personalization varies from birthdates, anniversary, powerful words such as faith, or names to remind people of what matters most. The last thing that sets us apart is that everything is made with 14k gold filled material. It has 100x more gold than normal jewelry; which means, the jewelry will not turn your skin green, it is long lasting, does not tarnish, and is hypoallergenic.

We created jewels to enhance our customer’s inner and outer beauty and embody what is true. It is minimalist and dainty but very powerful. We are proud to offer different pieces that target each individual. Our handmade creations allow our customers to choose what speaks to them. I’m most proud of creating something that has meaning and impact.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Credit goes to the people that I surround myself with daily. Sometimes, I think the people that deserve the most credit are the silent supporters. It’s not even a particular mentor, client, or specific person, but it’s the people that see me invest my time and energy into something so foreign and unknown. It’s the people that will repost or share what I’m creating. It’s the people that push me to keep trying new things and to keep focused versus those that get upset when I am busy or down. It’s the people that know and drive me to grow and reach for more.

The biggest credit goes to the community. Outside of customers, there is such a BIG community of local owners and entrepreneurs that just support and push each other to be the best they can be. They are strangers that become advocates.
