Meet Craig Rock of Paradigm Technology in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Craig Rock.

More than 20 years ago, Craig Rock founded Paradigm Technologies to offer companies certification programs in a number of services including analytics and information management, project leadership and consulting, Cloud and application deployment and infrastructure and networking capabilities. At the time, Rock was inspired to start this company because he saw a need to fill a gap of services that was then unavailable to IT organizations.

With a strong family connection, Rock chose Scottsdale as the company headquarters so he could always be a close family. “We do everything because of family,” he notes. That said, he also believes that there takes a unique type of individual to make an effective business owner and successful entrepreneur. “You’ve got to have thoughtful and strong leadership; perseverance and the courage to make the right decisions,” he adds.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Throughout his own journey of being an entrepreneur and business owner, Rock has learned a thing or two… to say the least. He offers some key lessons he’s learned along the way. “Don’t quit or give up — too many people do,” he says first. “Accept mistakes and failures, because they actually make you smarter, and always surround yourself with people smarter than you.” Finally, Rock advises, “When people show you who they really are, believe them.”

Paradigm Technology provides strategic solutions in the tech sector for Fortune 500 and 100 companies all over the globe.

They specialize in solutions for: data management, data quality and integration, analytics, reporting, data governance, and product information management.

Additionally, the can assist with business transformation as business and IT environments evolve through acquisitions, growth, and mergers and become increasingly complex.

Paradigm works with clients in the high tech, financial, hospitality, utilities, travel, and manufacturing sectors.

What were you like growing up?
Rock grew up in upstate New York and later attended the University of Maryland in College Park. Played college basketball and skied (amateur racing)and earned his degree in business administration. Technology always interested Craig, but in first programming class in college, he realized that (programming) was not going to be his career, but he could work on the business side of technology.

First company Craig started was dealing with communication products on the East coast, and then moved to Arizona to start up Ticketmaster.

Worked with Ticketmaster for seven years in various locations around the USA. Rock has two sons, one in Cali, one here, one works in Sales for a tech co out of San Fran, oldest one does website development and social media. Rock doesn’t believe in nepotism — neither work for Paradigm.

For fun, Craig enjoys golfing, exercise, dining, wine and travel. He is a huge fan of the Phoenix Suns, opera, live music, and world travel. He is also an avid reader and some of his favorite books include; The Gene (An Intimate History) by Siddhartha Mukherjee; I Contain Multitudes (The Microbes Within Us) by Ed Young; Thank You For Being Late by Thomas Friedman; Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neil De Grasse; A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles.
