Meet Actress Coral Mizrachi

Meet Coral Mizrachi of East

Today we’d like to meet Coral Mizrachi.

Hi Coral, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I always knew I wanted to be an actress. Growing up, I didn’t have cable, which forced me to go and rent out movies, which was all I could watch as a young girl, and this made me fall in love with acting. I’m from Israel, where the opportunities are limited. However, I still managed to start from a young age. I educated myself and signed with my first agent at 13. I am so happy to have an outlet for my creativity, which makes me feel alive. The more projects I do, my love for the profession gets bigger. in 2016 I booked Shutafim by Comedy Central and the first-ever Hebrew adaptation of Into The Wood. Funnily enough, I auditioned for Cinderella but got the part of Cinderella’s evil sister. At 21, I got a scholarship to one of the best drama academies in the West and decided to go. I stayed in the US for 4 years and loved every minute of it. After many tribulations, I feel comfortable where I am and looking forward to the future.

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh no. Defiantly not. Every creative, especially in the performing arts, is always met with roadblocks. Whether dealing with rejection, perfectionism, or any setback, I love acting wholeheartedly, but the industry can be unforgiving. You will hear way more “No” s than “Yes” s as an actor. I used to spend many hours daily worrying about what it meant and how I could improve, but I’ve been working hard to realize that this is part of the job, whatever it will be. I’ve learned that no matter what happens, success will follow as long as you focus on your craft and develop your skill. Another roadblock I’ve encountered was my health situation. In 2020 I was diagnosed with cancer and underwent months of aggressive chemotherapy. I’m lucky to be here talking with you today, but it has been difficult. I’ve taken many steps to heal my body and soul, and only recently have I felt like myself again. I am proud to say that today, I am an actress and work hard.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might need to become more familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Well, I act. I graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and have worked in this industry most of my life. I’ve been lucky to travel worldwide for work, from Vegas, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and New York in the US to Serbia and Prague in Europe. I love what I do, and it fulfills me every day. I have many pleasant memories from all of the projects I worked on. I remember I was excited to be on the set of Block Boys since we filmed in a multi-million dollar mansion in Las Vegas belonging to the famous Tanked show star Brett Raymer. While many projects I’ve done were a dream to work on, Tequila will forever have a special place in my heart due to the complex character I was playing and the amazing cast and crew. I grew a lot in creating this movie, and I learned so much about the human mind from playing Ron. I want to affect an audience and convey a message in my work. Watching cinema and theatre changed my life from a young age, and my goal is to do the same for others. This profession reflects humanity, and I believe in its power to cultivate change.
