Meet Colten Dietz of SuperKede Productions in Union Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Colten Dietz.

Colten, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Well, I’m originally from North Carolina. I moved to Arizona when I was around five years old and as I grow up in this state I fell in love with it. Randomly, when I was a 14-year-old. I decided to go outside and make a fan film on my childhood favorite video game franchise The Legend Of Zelda. After completing that short film. I instantly fell in love with filmmaking. I made about eight other short videos that year and going into high school. I was determined to teach myself everything I could in film production. I never attended any sort of film University/school. Everything I know was from trial and error as well as watching YouTube tutorials. I’m one of five APA or the Arizona production association Directors and before my 23rd birthday, I directed my first Netflix show (Inside The Mind Of A Serial Killer). I have also rectify future films in the past and multiple commercials as well his music videos. I have had the Blessing to work in stage blessings to work in stage states such as Louisiana, Nevada, California and many others of course including my home state of Arizona. My immediate goal is to Launch my original screenplay launch my original feature film fruit of the poisonous tree in this coming up year of 2019.

Has it been a smooth road?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve had. It’s with being a self-taught filmmaker. I had to learn all the terminology without any sort of teacher giving me guidelines. I’ve also struggled my spelling since I was a child. Which of course makes it quite difficult to put together a script that people want to pick up for distribution or financing.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the SuperKede Productions story. Tell us more about the business.
My production company SuperKede Productions. It was officially founded in 2015 when I receive my LLC. Before 2015 my production company was just a name. But since that time we have worked on over 15 commercials eight music videos for future films. We’ve also established the tutoring program/mentorship program before 2015 my production company was just the name. But since that time we have worked out over 15 commercials eight music videos for feature films. I also established a tutoring program/mentorship program. Or use that program to help certain students have an edge into learning procedures that the film colleges or sadly lacking in. A lot of these procedures and techniques are basic things that producers will wanna see you do on the professional set. Such as Assisting with CallSheet’s making film permits. Holding casting calls. This year only I personally have overseeing three short films that were created by seniors at different film of schools. Provided the student’s professional, great film gear and hope them lockdown locations under contract. As well as find them a cast.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Realistically Film in Arizona is growing. But it’s growing slowly. I believe there needs to be a little bit more tight grip on the organization through the film industry in Arizona. There is a lot of naysayers and childish drama between other filmmakers. That being said especially with Reese and help with Arizona’s film commission as well as the Arizona production association. From what I’ve put together there are a few decent films I will be coming to town bringing quite a bit of money in jobs for the local film talent.
