Meet Cody Matthieu of Cody Chris Collection in Southside

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cody Matthieu.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born from a dragon and raised by the coyotes. Hung out with the fish and learned how to sew. Early, I took on social media and learned business/ relationships are most important. More important than my sewing machine. I have risked it all to clothed the superstars.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been easy smooth sailing since the start. I have always done what I want and never been ashamed of it. Sometimes I don’t understand what I do but that’s the magic of what is going on. Overall, I think the struggle is life not seams in the cloth.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Cody Chris Collection story. Tell us more about the business.
I make satin brocade kimonos! 20 colors that glow in the dark. I’m obsessed with kimonos basically kimonos this kimonos that. I love kimonos and that is all. However, I am most proud of opening up and allowing the community to change my life for the better.

So, what should we be on the lookout for, what’s next in store for you?
Yes, I used to do a lot of prints and switched to straight fashion. However, the 2020 collection I will try to do a fusion of the two, fingers crossed. Also, I will no longer be paying for media coverage or features in a fashion shows. Sorry haha
