Meet Cody Friesen of Zero Mass Water in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cody Friesen.

Cody, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In 2004, I realized that giving individual people worldwide permanent water ownership, access and security was probably possible, with technology. Later, I put together a team to set about developing the materials science, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics it would take. We ultimately found an incredibly efficient way to use solar energy alone to produce clean, great-tasting drinking water from air – from there Zero Mass Water was born.

From there, we developed SOURCE, a hydro panel that captures water vapor out of the air with the power of the sun to create pure water. It’s stored in an onboard reservoir, where we add calcium and magnesium to make the water healthy and delicious. Then the water is delivered straight to your tap or refrigerator, ready to drink. As long as the sun is out, SOURCE is working, and a two-panel array produces around a case of water per day plenty of drinking water for the average family.

Over the past few years, we’ve been deploying SOURCE around the world. In the last year alone, we have installed SOURCE on three continents and in nine countries in homes, schools, offices, community centers, and health care facilities, for people in Los Angeles and New York, to the coasts of Mexico, the arid desert of Jordan, and on islands in the Philippines.

In November 2017, we announced that SOURCE is now generally available for purchase to residents in the United States.

A standard two-panel SOURCE array is $4,000 plus tax, delivery and installation. SOURCE has a ten-year life, and will provide you with a case of delicious water per day.
