Meet Codi Stonehouse of Sage + Stone Weddings LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Codi Stonehouse.

Hi Codi, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been passionate about helping others, but in my way. I was always volunteering at events, involved in the Student Council – you name it! After graduating high school, I landed a student worker position with the events team at ASU, which led to working for iHeart Radio for a few years as their events coordinator; during that time, I found my love for events. At the time, I was convinced I would work in Radio forever or own a concert venue. Oh, was I wrong! Fast forward a few years, and I’m planning my wedding and had a blast doing it! It came naturally, and I got incredible feedback from all our vendors, guests, and family. Never in a million years did I see myself in the wedding industry, but I felt so at home I found my calling. I found my people! I dove head first into building my business and booking my first few weddings. I’m still friends with many of those early brides today, and I’m so thankful they trusted me to be a part of their day. Two years later, my business is bigger and better than ever imagined. I have an incredible team by my side and haven’t looked back since!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh gosh, no! I knew nothing about running a business and had no clue what went into a wedding day; I figured if I could manage concert days, a wedding would be a breeze. Wow, was I naive! I had yet to learn what work went into coordinating a wedding behind the scenes, let alone running a business. There were a lot of tears, late nights, and hard lessons learned. I sacrificed many weekends with my family and friends and honestly still do! I had to learn to set boundaries with my couples, communicate with tough vendors, market myself on social media, and handle very opinionated family members. I failed a lot but wouldn’t have it any other way. All those failures got me here today, and I’ll embrace the many more failures to come. The wedding industry is not for the faint of heart, but I love every second.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My husband, Clayton, has always been my biggest hype man, and I’m so thankful for him. He pushed me to start the business and continues to go along with all my crazy ideas! The wedding vendor community in Arizona is top-notch; Katie with Cedar and Sage Weddings and Miranda with Miranda Madison Events have been my biggest mentors – always cheering me on and offering advice and support when needed. I’ve made many close friends working these weddings; how can you not? Taylour with Old School Tap, Lala with Oohlala Photography, Candis with Honeybee Cake Co, and Maria with Wolford Weddings! I’m so thankful for their friendship and support.
