Today we’d like to introduce you to Cierra Conerly-Sims.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
I started my journey lost! I had no direction, no goals, and minimal thinking. I was a mess! My supervisor; Carla (may she rest in peace), had a conversation with me about my goals and worked with me to implement the blueprint for development. Carla sparked something inside of me that changed the trajectory of my life. I became intentional about my education and development as a leader. I started investing my time in learning business, transferable skill sets, public speaking, and networking with the right people. With the growth I was doing, there was still something not right. I was not taking care of my emotional and mental health. I had mommy issues, relationship issues, self-image issues, and so much pain. In 2018, I finally started dealing with my trauma and being conscious about my healing. I built a relationship with God, found my voice, brought clarity to my mission, and ultimately found my authentic-self. In 2019, I kept having dreams about the business venture I was being called to, so in August of that year, I started the business. That is the short version LOL.
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There is no one in this WORLD who accomplished their goals without challenges. I faced professional and personal adversities while building my business. I experienced disappointment, grief, doubt, loss, and so much more. I was on autopilot with my emotions for years, and that made my professional success much harder. I was with someone who did not believe in me, I was still grieving the loss of my daddy, while trying to establish a business on my own. I experienced domestic violence, I suffered medically from diabetes, hypertension, a pulmonary embolism, side effects of a gastric bypass, anxiety, and depression. Overall, I learned how to manage these different adversities and came to the conclusion they never defined me and were just parts in my story. Once I accepted it, the blessings started to flow.
Thanks for sharing that. Can you tell us more about your work next?
My work LOL, I laugh because I wear so many different hats that it’s hard to target one area. I own SIS Events & Services, LLC. SIS is actually an abbreviation for Sisters Inspiring Society (Thanks Z). I created a business that combines what I love to do (plan weddings and events) and incorporates my mission (give back to the community). A portion of all proceeds made each year go back to the community by way of scholarship to a student, helping those in need, a donation to a non-profit organization, and soon to be hosting non-profit events presented by SIS.
I have been dubbed the “Execution Queen” because the minor details matter, and I always seek to execute to the highest level of excellence for my clients.
I have incorporated other services under the business, such as, apparel, custom product services, consultation services, task services, officiant services, and more.
In my corporate life, I am a Training Consultant. I help trainers build their skills to become Master Trainers. I have been on several boards for non-profit organizations. Beyond The Hurt’s CEO & Founder; Deva Mumphrey was the first to believe in me and give me an opportunity to exhibit my leadership skills (Please support this amazing organization, www.beyondthehurt.org). Currently, I am the Vice President of Rhoyal Legacy Foundation, Inc. (www.tucsonsgrhos.com), where we provide scholarships to traditional and non-traditional students to help them reach their educational goals.
As a proud member of Dominion World Ministries, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. I help organize and complete several community service projects every month. Getting out into the community and talking to people and hearing their stories, changes your perspective on WHY and humbles your soul.
How do you define success?
I define success as finding your purpose on this earth and living in that truth. When you can wake up every day and feel no regrets or negative energy about what you are doing with your life, you have found the sweet spot to this life journey!
