Meet Ciara Rose of Barber Intelligence

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciara Rose.

Ciara, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My name is Ciara Rose and I reside in Phoenix, Arizona. I am a 26-year-old single mother of two beautiful children. Being a single mom has helped me get to where I am today. After being divorced and depending on no one but God to help me get through life, I was determined to find out who I was. I then started to volunteer. I volunteered for a candidate that was running for the Phoenix city council in District 8. While volunteering, I realized I had a passion in photography. That passion then turned into my own business called “Captured By Ciara.” I love capturing natural light portraits.

During the pandemic, I gave discounts for senior photos due to them not being able to graduate to give back to our community. It was a success and glad I could bless the families with memories they will never forget. As I continued on my self discovering journey, I learned I enjoy making people feel good about themselves. God lead me to then meet a beautiful woman named Lana Cantrell. She is the founder of “Barber Intelligence LLC.” Barber Intelligence is the first-ever state-approved Barber apprentice program. I am humbled to be the first female to be apart of the program. Lana is an amazing teacher and I can’t wait to see how God works through us to take over such a male dominated industry.

Has it been a smooth road?
Juggling Barber school, my photography business, a full-time job and being a full-time mom can definitely be overwhelming, but I’m always ready for a challenge. God has placed so many loved ones in my corner to help me in times of need.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
My photography business, “Captured By Ciara,” is all about loving yourself and seeing you how God sees you. Beautifully and wonderfully made. What sets my business apart is I like to get to know the people I’m photographing. Finding out what kind of music they like so I can play it while taking photos of them to make them feel comfortable and In their own element. I’ll show them my personality and make them laugh to feel even more as ease.

Barber Intelligence, I am currently an apprentice for Lana Cantrell. We love serving the community by being involved with cutting hair and letting God lead us on our journey. I’m still learning new techniques and growing everyday.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Within the next 5-10 years, “Captured by Ciara” is going to be a business where women can book me to do a “self-love” shoot. I want to photograph women all shapes, color and sizes to help them realize how beautiful they are. Flaws and all. Within the next 5-10 years, I see myself being one of the best female barbers in the state of Arizona. Also, owning my own barbershop run by women! Booked out and happy.
