Meet Christine Iring of The Wounded Healer in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Iring.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Christine. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Six years ago, I was going through a very rough time in my life. Divorce, selling my home short sale, It was a very dark and difficult time in my life, you could even say I hit rock bottom. Wanting to connect with my feelings, emotions, getting real with myself to move on and heal, I began to see a therapist. Through these sessions, I decided to be honest with myself, work through some difficult things about myself, and the circumstances around me. I grew immensely by making changes to my lifestyle, my mindset and how I go about things in my life.

In 2017, I was really wanting to do something to support, guide, and coach others that found themselves in similar situations. I wanted to be a resource someone could go to when their lives had been turned upside down. To be the person that I found difficult to find when I was at my low point. In June of 2017, I enrolled in the Southwest Institute of the Healing Arts in Tempe, AZ. in the Mind Body Wellness Program. It is there that I found a sense of belonging, and what my purpose was here on earth. It is through SWIHA I became an Empowerment/Life coach, Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and a Reiki Master. I am now a holistic health practitioner who specializes in supporting women in being empowered and rediscovering themselves after a difficult time. I was one of them not too long ago, and even though I may not have experienced their exact situation, I can definitely empathize and feel compassion for them. Guiding my clients in becoming a better, stronger version of themselves.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, there have been struggles personally and professionally, but anything that is worthwhile you have to fight for. Professionally, I have never run a business before, so there was definitely an education there… still is. From a client standpoint, they may just see your webpage, what your mission is, what to see who and when you are as a person and as a professional. From the practitioner/business end, there are so many finite details to think of and have a handle on. So was the road bumpy at first? Sure, figuring aspects of the business out, what works, what doesn’t, changing to pinpoint what in the end is your brand of supporting others. Sometimes, there can be a struggle in the creative process, what do I want to do next? Workshop? Create a coaching tool? Then, what steps need to be done to make it happen.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I specialize in supporting women ( I do with men as well) in rediscovering/finding themselves, especially after divorce. There is much self-healing, talking/working through so much emotion, feeling and so much more. If you think about it, divorce is like death… so can a tremendous break-up, if you have been seeing someone for a time. I was one of those women. Going through a divorce after 25 years of marriage, life-changing in so many ways, it gets quite overwhelming! As many can relate, men and women, sometimes many of us lose ourselves in marriage for many different reasons. Here I found myself, no longer a wife, still a mother, but my children were grown and didn’t need me like they did when they were younger. It was time to rediscover/reinvent/find myself. It was a long process, but I love the person I am, and who I continue to become. I believe that is what sets me apart. I have been through pain, difficult times, I can relate.

The modalities that I work with are I am a life coach, like to call myself an empowerment coach… supporting, guiding, asking the right questions to get others to realize the power they have within themselves… to not let the others or the outside world take it away. A life coach is not a therapist or counselor. I will not give advice, or tell a client what they should do. The answers are truly within them, and using coaching resources and tools, along with asking potential questions to truly make the client go deep and address what is going on. There is always an accountability piece for every session on the client’s part, making sure they are doing “the work”. How often and how long you see a client varies depending on circumstances. Bottom line, clients are really going to want to work on issues, be honest with themselves. Coaching isn’t going to work if you aren’t going to want to truly make the change, come up with excuses or not willing to take a hard, look at yourself. Change can be hard for many, and realizing certain aspects about oneself can be very emotional and profound.

Hypnotherapy is another modality that I do. Hypnotherapy is not what you see on TV and movies, it is very serious work. You are not asleep but in a very relaxed state of consciousness. You are aware of your surroundings, sounds, voices… they are just used as part of the hypnosis process to calm and relax you. I cannot make you do anything you don’t want to do (you won’t be clucking like a chicken), you are always in charge. Hypnosis quiets your body and mind and gets your busy “monkey brain”, your conscious brain out of the way, to get to your subconscious mind, where many of our deepest fears, traumas and more are stored. The subconscious will not do anything that it is not ready to do, and it will reveal to you what it feels you can handle at that given time. I make it very clear to client’s that during hypnosis magic words are not going to be said, and their issue is going to disappear…poof. During the heart of a hypno session, guided imagery is used, basically reading a script/story designed around what the client is working on and detailed to their specific needs. During this process, the client is relaxing comfortably in a chair, may see images, feel things… their experience is their own. We discuss their experience after the hypnosis and see what comes up, can be worked through, and released. Hypnotherapy is a great way to get to the bottom of many issues and traumas. Once again, they are going to want to truly make a change within themselves. Hypnotherapy can be used for so many different things-fears, phobias, addictions, weight loss, smoking cessation, drama analysis, parts therapy, past life regression, spirit releasement, so many others. When a client comes to see me, whether coaching or hypnotherapy, we try to get as specific as possible with what it is they want to work on, so we can figure out which modality or combination of will be the best.

Reiki is energy work. It is using the universal life force energy that is in within each one of us, everything on earth has energy. After having a mini coaching session to see where the client is at energetically and otherwise that given day, I, the practitioner scan the client’s energy fields, there are 4: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. I am very clairsentient, which means I “feel” things… that could be changed in temperature in my hands or body, tingling in my hands, a forceful flow of energy coming from my hands. All these are giving me information. After scanning, the client’s lies down, ask for permission to touch (if a client doesn’t want to be touched, the protocol can still be done), and they are particular areas my hands very lightly touch the client, this is not intrusive or invasive in any way. Throughout this protocol the client is relaxed, and I am retrieving information on energy signals I get throughout the session and sending Reiki energy to the client’s body creating balance within their system.

What sets me apart is that I truly listen, try to get as specific as possible to try to come up with the best game plan of treatment. When doing hypno, we discuss which script is best for what is being addressed that day. In Reiki, if it is a first time client, I usually talk them through the treatment, to feel more at ease. During a Reiki session, it is usually quiet and relaxing. Those little things really do mean a lot with the clients, in other words going that extra mile.

I can do life coaching and hypnotherapy in person, by phone, FaceTime, Facebook Messenger Video Chat. Reiki can be done in person, Long Distance Reiki can be done as well, which can be set up with the client as how they would like that done.

Do you feel luck has played a role in your life?
I don’t know if I would use the word luck I see it more as what I following my heart, my intuition… knowing what was right for me. I believe the universe is always giving you signs, sometimes we are not paying attention, or understand, or even ignore them. The universe will also keep bringing this lesson to you until you do get it. Have I had a situation like that that has happened? Absolutely, you reflect, learn, grow and move on. Deep down, I believe that one really does know the answers. Out of fear and other things, we don’t/won’t do what we know that we truly should. So, I see all this as how am I following my compass? In life and business, it is always going to be a trial and error, live and learn theme, it is what you do with that that determines the outcome.
