Meet Christina Zelaya of Churro GoNutz in Glendale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Zelaya.

Christina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Churro GoNUTZ is a mobile catering service that is veteran owned located out of Glendale, AZ. We offer catering options out of a 10×10 booth and a food trailer. Our team is made up of many different backgrounds within the hospitality industry which altogether includes over a decade of experience. Last February of 2018 was the start of this great business venture.

Has it been a smooth road?
I don’t think any business would be successful without some hard lessons or failures along the way. We’ve had great support from other local food truckers and vendors that have motivated us and kept us from making the same mistakes they did. From the local SBA mentor programs to the ASU Prepped program they have been extremely helpful and we continue to use them as a tool when making decisions.

We’d love to hear more about your business
We recently won the People’s Choice Award for the Arizona State University Prepped Entrepreneurship + Innovation program. We are very involved with the community and with the help of our customers, we were able to successfully reach our goal in providing 24 back-packs with a completed list of school supplies to 24 Kids for a local church.

Scooptacular creates our delicious handcrafted locally made ice cream flavors that bring our churro creations to the next level! We strive in bringing excellent customer service as our key to creating an unforgettable experience! With our churro combinations, our goal is to bring out the kid in you!

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I would highly recommend the Phoenix metropolitan area to start a business it is an amazing city. Phoenix is continuously changing, growing, and evolving. Being a mobile business allows us to connect with communities that would probably have never seen us if we were stationary because the city is so spread out. We love being able to able to bring that WOW factor to all areas of the valley!
