Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Elena McHugh.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story…
I remember my very first memory. I was a little girl playing with an outdoor water spout on a warm day. I felt the cool stream of water running over my hands, watched the sunlight dance across the ripples, and thought, This is beautiful. What is this? It was my first encounter with presence — feeling the dampness, the movement, the reflection — and though I didn’t know it then, that moment would mirror the philosophy that would guide me through my life.
Years later, when life became heavy and my thoughts darkened, that same element — water — returned to teach me again. I found myself drowning in my dark heavy thoughts. My body reflected the weight of my emotions — dense, stagnant, and disconnected. I realized that my inner dialogue was cruel, repetitive, and unkind. Like so many women, I had been conditioned to self-reflect through criticism rather than compassion.
One day, I looked in the mirror and caught a glimpse of my own soul — hidden behind tired eyes, buried under years of self-neglect. The reflection staring back at me wasn’t who I wanted to be. That was my awakening moment. As a mother, I realized I couldn’t pour from an empty cup. This body — my earth suit — was the only one I had, and if I wanted to truly be present for my children, I had to choose myself first.
It wasn’t easy. Choosing yourself rarely is. However, I began to shift — to move, to breathe, to treat myself with the same love I had always given others. I stopped grasping at the water and began to let go — embrace the flow, adaptive, alive. As Master Bruce Lee said, “Be water, my friend.”
That realization became the current that carried me into the work I now do — helping others remember that transformation begins the moment we decide to flow instead of fight. Through Kundalini Yoga, sound frequency medicine, and breathwork, I learned that healing isn’t about fixing what’s broken; it’s about remembering what’s already whole.
That little girl who once marveled at the water now blesses it — chimming sacred frequencies into lakes, waterfalls, rivers, and oceans, imprinting love and light into the earth’s crystalline grid. My story began with water, and it continues to ripple outward — a reminder that when you change your internal vibration, you change everything around you.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been anything but smooth — however, I’ve learned that the rough edges are where we find our reflection. My hardest year became my greatest initiation — the moment I decided to recode, reset and rise. My anti-matrix mantra.
For a long time, I was just existing, not living. I was doing everything for everyone else and leaving nothing for myself. Like so many women, I carried the silent weight of being dismissed, interrupted, and underestimated. There’s a unique ache that comes from being unheard while simultaneously feeling unseen. It fragments the soul until one day you no longer recognize your own reflection.
I began to study breath, movement, and vibration — and realized how oxygen-starved, anxious, and energetically distorted our world has become. We move fast, breathe shallow and live in constant survival mode. I had to teach myself how to breathe again, to feel again, to slow down enough to hear the whisper of my own soul.
Through Kundalini Yoga, Acutonics® sound healing, fasting, and Quantum Meditation, I started to rebuild my nervous system and rewire my beliefs. It wasn’t just a physical transformation — it was spiritual, emotional, and cellular. I shed over 100 pounds naturally, but more importantly, I shed lifetimes of heaviness.
My healing became my calling. There’s a verse in James 4:17 that says, “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” That scripture struck me deeply — because I knew I was being called to heal, to serve, to use my voice and gifts for good. Not doing so felt like turning my back on purpose itself. I began teaching others how to regulate their energy, release emotional stagnation, and awaken their inner healer. What once broke me became the frequency that shaped me.
The road has not been easy — it has been sacred. Every challenge taught me grace. Every fall showed me resilience. And every rise reminded me that even when life tests us, there’s always a higher vibration waiting on the other side.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Cowgirls 2nd Chance in Wickenburg, Arizona, Christina Elena McHugh — known as Yogic Cowgirl — blends ancient Eastern practices with the Wild West spirit. What began as a boutique for self-expression and creativity has evolved into a sanctuary for transformation and community.
Through Kundalini Yoga, sound healing, and breathwork, I help people remember who they truly are — guiding them to reconnect with their bodies, breath, and purpose. The boutique has blossomed into a wellness hub and safe space offering organic skincare, women’s circles, and immersive sound baths. Every offering is rooted in the belief that frequency is medicine and that through awareness, presence, and vibration, we can realign with our highest selves.
My great-grandmother was a curandera — a healer, midwife, and merchant who studied alongside Chinese Medicine Men in Mexico in the early 1900s, blending ancient wisdom with earth medicine. My grandmother and I shared telepathic gifts, dreams, and visions that taught me intuition itself is a sacred form of medicine — a language of the soul.
When I married into my husband’s family, my ancestral roots merged with theirs. His grandmother founded the Reiki Center of Los Angeles and authored Reiki: Hands That Heal, helping bring Reiki to California. His father, Will Morris, PhD, DAOM, is a master astrologer, acupuncturist, and herbalist who, along with my mother-in-law, created the Kootenay Sound Healing Centre — a Gong Temple and School in Canada devoted to the healing power of vibration and frequency.
These teachings became the bridge to my own path. I went on to study Acutonics®, where I use tuning forks, planetary gongs, and celestial chimes to bring the body into resonance with the cosmos — uniting heaven and earth through sound.
“To me, this isn’t just sound therapy — it’s communion with the universe’s cosmic song. I’m simply the conduit.
Through the Law of Resonance, I believe every soul, every thought, and every emotion emits its own tone. That’s why I often ask my children, when they’re having a hard day or feeling ‘salty,’ ‘Is this your cosmic song today?’ It’s a gentle reminder that we always have the power to choose the frequency we broadcast — to realign our inner vibration with love, peace, and truth.”
I’m currently writing my book, Frequency is Medicine: A Self-Healing Guide to Radical Transformation
This book chronicles my own metamorphosis — a journey from disconnection to aligning with my authentic self — and offers the tools that helped me heal: vibration, fasting, breath, and the alchemy of journaling. It’s the manual I wish I had when I was navigating the depths of my own healing — a guide for remembering that the body itself is the instrument, perfectly tuned for transformation.
Through these pages, I share not just the “how,” but the “why” — how frequency shapes our reality, and why tuning into your inner resonance unlocks the medicine within.
This year, I’m launching The Yogic Ranch — a sanctuary where yoga, sound healing, and guided meditation come together to awaken the body’s innate intelligence. What sets my work apart isn’t just the tools I use — it’s the intention behind them. Every class, ritual, and sound bath is anchored in reverence, protection, and presence.
I believe healing is not a performance; it’s a frequency we embody. Through vibration, breath, and awareness, we’re not only healing ourselves — we’re tuning the collective. My role is to hold space for others to remember their own power, to break the loops that bind them, and to play a new cosmic tune — the song of their truest self.
What I’m most proud of is the way Yogic Cowgirl has become a movement — one that says, If you can feel it, you can heal it. That’s the rhythm of my life, and it’s the message I want to leave imprinted on every heart that crosses my path.
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happiest is being of service — paying it forward and witnessing how the energy of giving always comes back multiplied. I’ve learned that the more you give, the more you receive — not in material things, but in miracles, connections, and unexpected blessings.
I find deep joy in teaching and working with people of all ages — from teenagers discovering self-awareness to seniors reconnecting with their breath and vitality. It’s incredibly fulfilling to witness those “lightbulb moments” when someone realizes that healing and growth are possible at any stage of life.
Family and community are also at the heart of my happiness. Sharing this journey with my mother through our boutique, and with my daughters who inspire me every day, reminds me that love, creativity, and purpose flow through generations.
What truly fills my heart is helping others remember their power — showing that no matter your age, story, or starting point, you can reinvent yourself, align with your truth, and do something good for the world. Because when we lift others, we all rise together.
