Meet Chiara Magni of Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chiara Magni.

Hi Chiara. We’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Thank you very much for having me! My name is Chiara Magni. I am a professional painter from Italy. I’ve been doing this for several years. My paintings are now collected worldwide, focusing on the US. At the end of 2020, I came up with a name for my painting style, “Bright Expressionism.” I’ve always defined myself as an impressionist, but the more I painted, the more I understood that wasn’t quite correct; that label didn’t fit me well. After having painted and sold hundreds of paintings, I felt the strong need to explain and name a new style. I felt I needed to define the meeting point between Impressionism and Expressionism. The way I use colors belongs to the expressionist movement; they are very saturated, unrealistic, and sometimes almost violent; at the same time, I like to convey positive emotions, and I glorify the beauty of nature, which is an impressionist way to paint. We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I always love to answer this type of question as it is part of my goal to be an example and an inspiration to others. I want to be very real; being a painter isn’t easy. I mean, the painting part is beautiful, very personal, and you don’t need to do anything else than happily create, if you want to be a professional painter and do it as a business… Well, here is where the game begins. Knowing the effort required is key, as life isn’t a fairy tale. I suggest taking one step at a time, making every action count, isolating your winning action, and doing them repeatedly; there is a moment where your role as a painter needs to be detached from your role as an entrepreneur. Oh yes, if you want to make it as an artist, you need to know that it is a business and will work like any other business; sorry if I am exposing this to you like this. I am a very down-to-earth person.

You can decide to keep your artistic need as a hobby and get the most out of it, and I am sure that it will make you feel satisfied and entertained. When it becomes an actual business, be ready to treat it as such. I know exactly how much emotions are a key factor in our personality. We use them to keep ourselves inspired. We use them to create our art, they are our muse, but as entrepreneurs and business people, we cannot let them come in. I’ve seen it too often happening to other artists and me, and I’ve learned the lesson. That is why I am here now, sharing this with you guys. I hope this reaches the right people and helps them stay inspired and pursue their artistic goals. When you create, you are the artist. When you run your business, you are the entrepreneur, don’t ever mix them, and you will have a happy and healthy career.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Since you allow me to be in your amazing magazine, I would love to promote my Art Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona. The big opening in January 2022 was a beautiful event where we displayed paintings depicting women and landscapes. I flew from Italy to be physically there. I was welcomed with love by the local community. Arizona is beautiful, and Scottsdale is a great town. Alright, before we go, can you talk to us a bit about how people can work, collaborate, or support you?
As a painter, I’m susceptible to what happens around me, from my family to everything that happens in the world. I see art as a tool to make people happier and the environment more joyful and carefree. I see happiness in the small things, in all those little things that make you feel in the right place and on the right path based on your dream as a small kid.
