Meet Chelsey Richardson of F5 Consulting in East Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsey Richardson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Chelsey. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Owning a business has always been a dream of mine; however, I never knew exactly what I wanted to do. Or, the better answer is I never knew what I wanted to do because I was always told what I “should” do. Coming from a small town in South Carolina, going to college, getting a job, and working for 40-50 years, was the norm. I never saw a business owner that looked like me, so it was easy to believe that I would never have a business to call my own. As many career paths as you can imagine, that’s how many I tried. Thought I’d be a doctor, failed. Moved to computer science, failed again. Slid over to nursing… epic fail. None of those career paths were things I chose for myself. It wasn’t until my last semester of college that I decided to do a 180 and switch my major to psychology. The majority of my early years were spent being a resource for others, providing insight, advice, and lending a helping hand.

It was until I was laid off in June 2018 that I realized my true purpose. If I hadn’t gotten laid off, I don’t think I would have ever started my business. I was too comfortable in my role and I believe God pushed me out into nothing and forced me to build something. Be careful what you ask for, they say. I can tell you, that’s a true statement. I had a choice to fold or flourish and I chose the latter. F5 Consulting LLC was birthed out of my passion for being a refreshing part of people’s lives. It was my calling long before I ever got laid off and I just couldn’t see it because I was blinded by comfort.

Since the start of F5 Consulting LLC back in 2018, we have been blessed to assist business owners who have trusted us to bring their visions to life. I couldn’t be more excited, because I never knew getting fired would be the best thing that ever happened to me. It’s amazing what happens when life gives you an ultimatum.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being in business has not been a smooth road. Moving to Phoenix back in 2012, I vividly remember only having two suitcases of clothes, no bed, and one month to get a job. When I did find a job, I would wake up 5 am to walk to the bus stop every morning, just to take a bus to another bus, and walk 0.5 miles to get to work by 8 am. I did this for eight months straight before I could afford a car. When I started my business, there were times when I couldn’t afford to keep my website live because I didn’t have $30 to my name. Talk about embarrassing? I can remember crying uncontrollably because there was a time when I had only .61 cents to put in my gas tank. I keep the receipt to remind me of how blessed I am and how humble beginnings can transform into powerful endings. As the beauty of this journey continues to unfold, I make sure to tell my self obstacles are simply opportunities if I look at them through the right lens.

F5 Consulting LLC caters to individuals and business owners who are passionate about creating excellence both personally and professionally. We offer to coach for new and existing business owners who want to grow their brands from idea to implementation.

As a company, we are most proud of the ability to create an impact with our clients in their businesses, but also their personal lives. We specialize in, what we call, the foundation of a business. That is customer service, the customer experience, and strategic planning. We are known for simply be a refreshing perspective. Our client’s often come to us, lacking clarity and needing direction. We simply meet our clients where they are and provide solutions.

It’s hard to answer the question of what sets us apart from others because we never look to others to determine our abilities. If we spent time comparing, we would lose out on opportunities to do what we do best, and that creates excellence for our clients.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our future plans are still in the works. We don’t want to scale without control because we believe in quality over quantity. Numbers are of no value to us if they don’t include substantive, meaningful outcomes for our clients. So, our goal, for now, is to continue executing at a high level with our clients and ensuring they reach their goals. Who knows, maybe we will be a global organization in the near future!
