Today we’d like to introduce you to Charmezz.
Hello Charmezz, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
As daughters of immigrants, we were always pushed to go the extra mile in life. Cooking, hosting, and creating beautiful cuisine is part of our culture and heritage and one of the key elements of our upbringing. We both grew up in different parts of the world (Neda in Canada and Mona in Dubai) with similar passions, so when we met, we clicked on so many levels.
Mainly because we shared a passion for cooking, creating in the kitchen, and watching our friends and family enjoy our edible creations, whether it was a grazing board, traditional meals, appetizers, or a simple spread. In 2020, we quarantined together and shared several meals and experiences together, which led us to come up with the idea of implementing our passion of creating beautiful food into a business.
Fast forward to the summer of 2021, we bit the bullet, came up with a name, idea, and concept, and went into it headfirst, truly believing that when you do something you love, you will never work a day in your life. We chose to create Charmezz in December 2021, and we have not looked back since. We have continued to create, grow, learn, and stay fluid with our ideas. It has been a fruitful and exciting few months, and we cannot wait for what continues to be in store for us moving forward.
We both thrive on feeding our loved ones and watching them enjoy our creations is so satisfying, we wish the same experience for our customers and hope for them to also share our growth and enjoy our creations. Our name is a combination of Charcuterie & Mezze, which means appetizers, so stay tuned for the growth of Charmezz in the near future.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As business owners, we hit roadblocks and challenges. The most important thing for us is to stand together as a team and work out any hurdles we face together. Having the support of our spouses has been so important. With that being said, our biggest challenge was to learn how to balance and make time for our children, home life, social life, our second jobs, and our newfound business, which meant that as mothers, wives, and business owners, we had/ have no days off.
Our work ethics and upbringing just do not allow us to give anything but 100% in every area of our lives, so finding that balance in the first month was challenging, but we have learned how to minimize the pressure, and we have beautifully managed to balance all of the above in the past 2 years, and are so grateful to our families, friends, and new and returning clients for helping make it easier for us.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are food stylists and cheese connoisseurs with a giant passion for everything food-related. Beautiful spreads, homemade dips, and getting creative with our graze boards and tables are what we love and enjoy doing most. We are known in town for making some of the freshest and most beautiful graze boards, tables, and spreads.
Our work ranges from creating graze/charcuterie boxes and platters to full-blown 100+ guest graze tables. Our work, food quality, passion, and work ethics speak for themselves, and we have come to gain a great reputation in our line of work amongst our peers and clients.
We are truly proud of our dedication to Charmezz, balancing work, personal lives, our children and households is no easy task, but we put our heart into every area of our lives. Everything we make is fresh to order, and our quality of food is like no other; freshness, attention to detail, and creativity are what our customers love and that we deliver.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
We love the food scene, the upcoming amazing restaurants, and the diversity in cuisine our city has to offer, we dislike the constant freeway construction.
