Meet Chad M. Ortega-Foster of Mitchell Management Consulting in Biltmore and Arcadia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chad M. Ortega-Foster.

Chad, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
When I decided to end my time serving our country as a Captain in the United States Air Force, in 2017, I knew that I wanted to take the skills that I learned and start my own consulting firm. Between my training and time serving, I have nearly 10 year experience leading our nation’s men and women. There were times when I was in charge of organizations with more than 400 personnel and was responsible for a budget of nearly $35M. I also had the pleasure of working for some of the most recognizable names such as former Dr. Jill Biden, wife of former Vice President Joe Biden, former Secretary of Defense Ash Carter and NFL stars Andrew Luck and Dwayne Allen. During my tenure, I served in Alaska, South Korea and here in Arizona. It was the skills that I learned over the past decade that led me to start my consulting firm, Mitchell Management.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As with any startup, there are always a ton of challenges but the biggest hurdle for us is to bring in new clients that we can help that are outside of our network of contacts.

Mitchell Management Consulting – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Mitchell Management specialized is leadership training, operational design and strategic planning. We utilize the skills that are taught to military officers and we bring that ethos into the corporate world. The single best accomplishment we have had to date was the fact that last year our clients, on average, were able to increase their take-home revenue by 7x from when we first started working with them.

What role has luck (good luck or bad luck) played in your life and business?
Luck plays a good portion of anyone’s life as does being in the right place at the right time. However, none of that matters if you are not willing to put in the work necessary to capitalize on those fates of fortune.
