Meet Chad Kowal of Vocalkitchen in Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chad Kowal.

Chad, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Starting out playing in local bands to becoming an international touring act; it was always my deeply rooted dream to make a career for myself in music. In 2017, after many attempts to try & make this goal come to fruition, I found myself questioning which path I was going to take to get there. It was then I was re-introduced to an old acquaintance from back when I first starting playing live shows named Nino Lucarelli. Nino had been pursuing a career as a singer/songwriter for a talent agency based out of The Netherlands called Vocalkitchen. The whole concept behind the company is to shop vocalist’s songs to DJ’s looking for fresh new vocals for their instrumental tracks, and when I learned about this I decided this was the route I was most excited to take moving forward. In February 2017, I did an audition for VK which led to me signing my first publishing deal with them.

The past three years with the company has been such a rewarding & exciting experience. I’ve had the pleasure of having multiple collaborations released with DJ’s all around the world garnering millions of plays, & one track “Coming Home” even winning 3rd place for Song Of The Summer last year. I’ve had the pleasure of traveling all around the world & meeting so many incredible artists & producers. If this pursuit has taught me anything it’s that no matter what you’re pursuing in your life, you have to keep going. I’ve found that just beyond some of our biggest doubts & struggles lie breakthroughs greater than we could’ve ever imagined possible.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Every career path has it’s up’s & down’s no matter what sort of field you’re going into. I’ve found that what helps with this is constantly making sure your perspective is right. As human beings, we tend to latch onto the things that aren’t “happening” or “working” more than the things that actually are. As long as you understand the big picture of what goal you’re working to accomplish & stay open-minded I think anything is possible to achieve.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a singer/songwriter for Vocalkitchen. I spend most of my weeks in my home studio writing/recording songs that then get pitched to DJ’s/producers. The process can differ depending on which I prefer to go with that day. For instance some days I write to instrumental tracks that artists send VK to have us write over, whereas other days I like to write/record a completely original song from scratch. This sort of freedom is really inspiring & definitely keeps the fire burning. If I had to pick one thing I’m most proud of when it comes to VK, I would have to say everyone’s work ethic within the company. From the owner to the songwriters; everyone is diligently working daily towards taking this company to the next level & perfecting our crafts. I think something that sets us apart from other talent agencies is being open to working with artists of many different sizes. Whether it’s a young bedroom producer just starting out or it’s one of the world’s most established acts, we remain open to any & all opportunities.

My team deserves so much credit for getting me to where I am today – Allan Eshuijs, Alex Ter Horst, Nino Lucarelli & Bryant Powell. They say you are who you surround yourself with, & if that’s the case then I’m the luckiest guy in the world. Whether it’s giving advice on my career or just being there for me, they are truly the best support system I could ever ask for.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I plan on releasing a ton more songs with different DJ’s/producers all around the world & challenging myself as a singer/songwriter to reach the next level.
