Meet Celeste Talley of Celeste’s Kitchen & Catering

Today we’d like to introduce you to Celeste Talley.

Celeste, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Celeste’s Kitchen & Catering started off as an idea that I had. I thought to myself, how can I turn something that I love and am passionate about into a business? I was inspired to open my business from my father as well. He owned a restaurant in the late 80’s to early 90’s called Hearts of Lettuce.

This restaurant served health choices such as salads, soups, and sandwiches. My father passed away suddenly in 2017, and I feel like I lost a piece of me with him. He was able to see me begin to grow in my business and was very proud of the work I had accomplished.

I love to create new recipes and experiment with different flavors. We offer a wide variety of different menu options including Italian, BBQ, Soul Food, Asian, Mexican and more. If there is something that we do not have on our menu, we can create custom menus upon request.

I look forward to seeing what Celeste’s Kitchen & Catering will do in the future.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
With any business, there will be some difficulties that one will face. In my business, I did not have all of the tools, in the beginning, to be able to succeed and hit the ground running.

I was unaware of all of the nuances and details of starting a catering business. I had to do a tremendous amount of research and learned as I went along. Eventually, I did get over those hurdles and had been going strong ever since.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We specialize in corporate, wedding, and special events catering. The other services that are offered are personal/private chef and meal prep. We offer more than just excellent cuisine but an experience that will last far beyond the duration of the event.

We also pride ourselves in always offering excellent customer service and the highest quality cuisine. Some of our client’s favorite dishes are the Honey BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders and Celeste’s Famous Chocolate Chip Cheesecake.

Everything we make is made from in-house (created by the owner) and other family recipes. We want each of our clients’ experience to be unique and tailored specifically for each and every event.

What were you like growing up?
I grew up in Southern New Jersey and was a very shy and quiet child. I always loved helping my parents in the kitchen whenever possible. I enjoyed drawing and cooking most out of the hobbies that I participated in.

I knew that when I grew up, I wanted to do something different than my siblings but wasn’t quite sure what it was that I wanted to do. I would oftentimes find myself making Chicken Alfredo and trying to recreate the recipes I would see my dad making.

Cooking was definitely always a passion of mine, and I could not imagine doing anything else.
