Today we’d like to introduce you to Celeste Rios.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
A little over two years ago, I discovered a clothing brand that a really loved so I chose to become a brand rep. This meant I got to have my own online clothing boutique and sell their clothes. This seemed like quite a strange departure for me since I am an ICU nurse, but I really got into clothes and caring more about my appearance as an adult. I would love to have an occasion to get dressed up and would often end up being the dressiest in the room. About 8 or 9 months into this adventure, the brand dissolved their rep program and I had the opportunity to continue on my own. Thus Three Rivers Boutique was formed, giving me 100% control and therefore more freedom as to what I sold in my boutique.

Please tell us about your art.
Three Rivers Boutique is an online, women’s clothing boutique with sizes small-3X. I try to choose items that are unique and feminine and a little flirty. As a woman who bears the scars of bearing and feeding children, I know the power clothing can have to help one feel beautiful and give confidence.

Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
It is definitely not always an easy path and I have made some mistakes, but I am blessed that I have another job to fall back on. You must be willing to approach people and talk yourself up. Events have been a great way for me to get my name out there and gain new customers. Do a little research and talk to other artists/small business owners about which may work best for you. I think there is no getting around social media. You must have a presence on there and allow others to get to know not only your work but you as well. It requires a lot of effort but the payoff is well worth it. Also, get connected with your local SCORE group. They have so many resources and you can set up in-person meetings as well.
