Meet Cat Cantrill of The Scottsdale Matchmaker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cat Cantrill.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am a Scottsdale native, born and raised in Arizona, so expanding my business here has felt like a return to my roots. My journey toward becoming a matchmaker began long before I ever used that title. Years ago, while living in the Midwest as a single mom, I opened a women’s dance and fitness studio. I created it as a space for movement and confidence, but it quickly evolved into something deeper. Women would talk to me before and after class about their relationships, their dating struggles, their fears, and the parts of their stories they did not share with anyone else.

The women of the studio also watched me date in real time. A year after opening the studio, I met the man who is now my husband. After seeing my journey unfold, women would ask me where they could meet a man like that and how I created such a healthy partnership. That was the moment I realized that I was already doing the work I was meant to do. I was guiding women through transformation, confidence building, and intentional dating without even labeling it that way.

In 2015 I launched my first official coaching program for women. That program grew into international retreats where I helped women reconnect with themselves, heal old patterns, and learn how to date from a place of clarity and self-worth. I ran these programs while raising my kids and managing the studio, and those experiences shaped the coach and mentor I eventually became.

When the studio closed, it was a painful turning point, but it pushed me fully into the next chapter of my career. I took the coaching work I had been doing for years and built it into a professional practice focused on meaningful relationships, emotional intelligence, and personal growth. Matchmaking grew naturally from that work because clients wanted a more supportive and intentional way to find love.

Eventually I felt a strong pull to come home. Scottsdale has always been where I felt the most aligned and inspired. The Valley is full of high-achieving, successful people who want something deeper than what traditional dating apps offer. Returning home to build The Scottsdale Matchmaker was one of the most important decisions I have made in my career.

Today I work primarily with clients in Arizona while also supporting people nationwide who want a higher level of personal attention, insight, and guidance in their love lives. My approach blends psychology, intuition, strategy, and the lessons I’ve gathered from coaching and working with thousands of individuals over the years.

What started as honest conversations inside a small dance studio has evolved into a national matchmaking and coaching brand grounded in authenticity and emotional intelligence. At the center of everything I do is a simple belief. Love looks good on everyone.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Matchmaking is incredibly meaningful work, but it definitely comes with its challenges. People often imagine it as something glamorous and straightforward, yet behind the scenes there is a great deal of emotional labor, patience, and responsibility. I work with individuals who are hopeful, vulnerable, and often carrying old fears or patterns that still shape how they date. Holding space for that requires intention, honesty, and compassion.

One of the biggest challenges has been helping people slow down and approach dating with more openness. Many clients want fast results, yet meaningful love rarely appears on a rigid timeline. Part of my work is to gently guide them toward healthier expectations, more emotional self-awareness, and a clearer understanding of what truly supports a long-term partnership.

Being in Scottsdale has added its own unique layer. The Valley is full of high-achieving and accomplished people, and it can be easy for dating to become performance based. People often lead with their resume, their success, or their image instead of letting someone see who they genuinely are. One of my ongoing challenges is encouraging clients to lead with their heart rather than their pocketbook and to create relationships that are rooted in connection instead of presentation. It takes courage to shift that mindset, but the transformation is always worth it.

Another challenge is the responsibility that comes with curating introductions for people who trust me with one of the most important areas of their lives. Every match matters. I take that responsibility seriously, which means constantly evaluating, learning, and adjusting so each client receives the thoughtfulness and attention they deserve.

Even with the challenges, I love this work. Every obstacle has made me a stronger coach, a more intuitive matchmaker, and a better guide for the people who come to me looking for something real.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Scottsdale Matchmaker?
The Scottsdale Matchmaker is a boutique matchmaking and relationship coaching practice that helps high-achieving men and women create meaningful, lasting partnerships. I specialize in working with individuals who want more than what dating apps or casual introductions can offer. My work blends psychology, emotional intelligence, intuition, and strategy to help clients understand themselves, date intentionally, and build relationships that feel grounded and healthy.

I offer a full suite of personalized services that support every stage of the dating journey. These include private dating and relationship coaching, a three-month coaching program, online dating concierge management, high-touch matchmaking, and dating image consulting that helps clients present themselves with authenticity and confidence. Every service is customized, and each step is designed to create clarity, support, and intentional connection.

I am known for offering a very personal, concierge-style experience. I take time to understand each client on a deep level, including their values, communication patterns, and relationship history. I do not simply make introductions and step back. I guide clients through mindset shifts, communication tools, and more genuine ways of connecting so their relationships have the foundation needed to grow. This approach creates long-term success and aligns with the deeper level of partnership my clients are looking for.

I am most proud of the way my brand makes people feel. The Scottsdale Matchmaker is built on heart, discernment, and compassion. My mission is to create a space where individuals can be honest about what they want and receive the guidance and support to build the kind of love they have been searching for.

My work has also been recognized on a broader scale. I have been featured in Paradise Valley Lifestyle Magazine, PBS, CBS, FOX, and Fortune. I was invited to speak at the Global Love Institute Conference, which brings together leaders in the dating and relationship industry. I am also a member of the Matchmakers Alliance, a professional community dedicated to raising the standards of the matchmaking field. These opportunities have allowed me to share my perspective with a wider audience and continue elevating the conversation around intentional dating, emotional intelligence, and healthy relationships.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Risk has played a major role in my life and in my career. I would not be where I am today without taking leaps that did not make sense on paper but made perfect sense in my heart. I have learned that growth rarely happens in comfort, and almost every meaningful chapter of my career started with a moment of uncertainty.

I took a risk when I opened my first business as a single mom. I took a risk when I closed that chapter and stepped into coaching full time. I took another risk when I expanded into international retreats, trusting that women would show up for something entirely new. And I took one of the biggest risks of my career when I returned to Scottsdale to rebuild my brand in a new market and establish The Scottsdale Matchmaker.

None of those choices came with guarantees. What guided me was a belief that my work mattered and that I could create something meaningful if I stayed aligned with my purpose. Risk, to me, is not about reckless decisions. It is about being willing to step into the unknown when your intuition is louder than your fear.

Matchmaking requires that same mindset. Every day I am guiding clients through vulnerability, courage, and the willingness to put their hearts on the line. I cannot expect people to take emotional risks if I am not willing to take them myself. The way I see it, risk is simply an invitation to grow, expand, and trust your own resilience.

Looking back, every risk I took brought me closer to the life and career I have today. I would not change a single one.
