Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassidy Cygan.
Cassidy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I fell in love with photography when I was 6 years old and that was the first time, I ever picked up a camera. It was a disposable camera, that was the thing back then. But what really kick-started everything was when I got my first digital camera my sophomore year of high school. I started out doing portraits of my friends and sporting events but soon came to find out that couples, weddings, and elopements are what sets my soul on fire. Traveling is a huge passion of mine so I’m always dreaming of my next adventure and next wedding destination. A few years later I made my business legal on March 6, 2020. I took the leap of faith on December 17, 2021, and went full time with photography. I just moved from New York to Arizona in January 2022 to pursue my dreams. I’m now a full-time travel wedding and elopement photographer and it’s absolutely insane to be able to say that.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I made my business legal on March 6, 2020, about a week before the pandemic hit the world. As a first-time business owner, this scared me out of my mind. We couldn’t work, we couldn’t do anything. Little did I know this pandemic was something I didn’t know I needed. Quarantine really made me buckle down and get work done that I had been putting off for a while. I launched my website, started consistently booking clients and so many more amazing things. That was the year I really made a name for myself and kick-started my business. I feel like a lot of people try to avoid running into obstacles or challenges at all costs but, I think that’s something you need to go through to see the good that comes out of it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a full-time travel wedding and elopement photographer. I’m beyond proud of building my business from the ground up all by myself.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Honestly, the fact that I have the ability to create moments that make you feel everything. When you look back at a photo it almost always makes you feel a certain way. It brings you back to that exact moment. That’s one of my main goals I want to achieve when I have my couples look back at their photos. I feel blessed beyond measure that people want me to document the most important moments in their life. That is a feeling like no other and I feel lucky every single day that I’m able to do this.
