Meet Carson Eilers of Original Realty Co in Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carson Eilers.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Carson. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up around small business owners all my life and knew that was the direction I wanted to go too. In 2008 I got started in the Real Estate world right around when the market crashed. It was a stressful time to be starting a new career! But because of that, I learned how important innovation, creativity, and a fresh perspective is. When one of my clients was flipping a house, I had a lightbulb moment that maybe it was something I could do, too, but more efficiently. That was the jumping-off point. I started buying up houses and remodeling. During that time, I met my wife, who is creative and visionary in complementary ways. She suggested turning our home into a vacation rental well before it was a common thing to do. We did, and have since purchased and renovated eight other homes throughout Scottsdale that we rent out as vacation rentals.

In 2016, we purchased a hotel in northern Arizona and renovated it from top to bottom. Somehow, despite having only eight rooms, we’ve managed to gain a social media following of over 35,000 people. Every project that I dive into, I seek to do freshly. I don’t want to re-invent the wheel, but I do want to make it the best that it can be. This year, I decided to take a big leap and leave the large brokerage firm that I had worked with for years, and start my boutique brokerage. I have already signed on several amazing agents who share my vision for bringing something new to the real estate world, and I’m excited. Scottsdale is an amazing city to be a small business owner in!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There are always challenges with everything in Real Estate, but it’s all about how you persevere. I’ve always been the type to never give up, and honestly, it has both helped and hurt me along the way. For example, while flipping houses in Paradise Valley, I had a $1M+ house flood TWICE with the 200-year flood and 500-year flood all in the same year. It was discouraging, especially after putting so much work into it. I’ve always been into taking the big risks looking for the big rewards. Some ideas have worked, while others haven’t.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I’ve been called a serial entrepreneur: Hospitality, service and real estate projects have been just a few types of companies I have owned over the years. My newest company Original Realty Co is a boutique real estate brokerage firm. My wife and I have been in real estate for 10+ years and the biggest things we felt missing were community and excellence. We want our brokerage to be a community of agents and support staff where you want to be around the other people even outside of work. We will offer our agents monthly events and community service projects we do together in our community to strengthen our bond. The community also extends to our relationships with clients. We want real estate transactions to be relational!

Our focus on excellence means that we do what we say we will do. If we say we will show up, we will be there. We strive to be people of integrity, honesty, and reliability. To help our agents achieve this, we focus on setting specific individual goals, and career coaching for each team member.

One of the things I’m most proud of is the over 300 homes that we have remodeled over the years. A funny story – we remodeled a south Scottsdale home about 8 years ago. Last year, while helping some new clients look for a home, they asked to go see a cute 4 bedroom in South Scottsdale. It turns out it was the very same home we had remodeled all those years ago. They bought it!

What were you like growing up?
I grew up in a small town in Nebraska. Like many from there, I have always loved Nebraska football! I spent my summers at Johnson lake, passing the time with jet skiing, wakeboarding, and water skiing. I still love a good day at the lake even now. I attended the University of Nebraska, and some would be surprised that I was the social chair of my fraternity (SAE). My dad set and example of hard work in my family’s defense contracting company, and I worked there for as long as I can remember. I always had a natural talent for sales. When I was in Boy Scouts as a kid, I was the highest national salesman for popcorn sales.
