Meet Carrie Seay and Sara Mles of PHX Animal Behavior Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carrie Seay and Sara Mles.

Carrie and Sara, please share your story with us.
We both have backgrounds in the animal world working at shelters, veterinary offices, rescues, fostering, and as trainers and behavior consultants. We met at a networking lunch about a year ago and our training styles were very similar and we live fairly close to one another so we have been able to collaborate and share ideas and solutions while each working our own businesses. It was a dream of both of ours to open a training facility to be able to hold group classes for both cats and dogs and one day, we sat down to talk it out and realized it would be a huge addition to our businesses and great value for our clients and future clients.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Opening a brick and mortar training facility has had its challenges. Since we both had our home-based businesses, I think that there were a lot of details that we did not know would come up when we first started this project. Getting the space ready for the grand opening was difficult because we were working with multiple contractors for various parts of the project and trying to get all of the timelines working together seamlessly. Fortunately, we both see eye to eye on the business decisions and the training methods so the partnership has been a very smooth road.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with PHX Animal Behavior Center – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our training center focuses on using the most current, humane, and scientifically optimized training methods to work with pets and their owners in Phoenix. We do not use any punishment or fear based methods and work to help build and maintain the bond between pet and pet parent. We offer group classes and private sessions for both cats and dogs.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We just opened the training center so we are looking forward to introducing our training classes to pet parents. We want to be a valuable resource for pet parents to be able to learn about the best training methods, care options, and other pet services in the valley.
