Today we’d like to introduce you to Carly Vehrs.
Hi Carly, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always been an athlete. I began playing sports at the age of 4 and have never stopped. I come from a very active family as well so the motivation to be healthy and active was always there. I found a passion for exercise education when I was going through ACL reconstructive rehab. I had a very inspiring therapist and he taught me a lot about motivation and progress for rehabilitation. From there I began my education at Grand Canyon University studying for a Bachelors in Exercise Science. Along the way, I obtained my ACSM Certified Personal Trainer Title and have since been getting a start on running an online and in-person training business. My primary clientele are beginners. I love the education and empowerment I can provide to the people who lack confidence in themselves. I love to help people find their passion and self-love through healthy lifestyle changes. I think more people can benefit from knowledge and specifically the knowledge of exercise and how it influences such powerful physiological changes in the body.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a smooth road. I feel that God is leading me to do this and is revealing exactly what I am supposed to be doing. A huge aspect of exercise and wellness I will hope to be pursuing will be working with people with Chronic Illness, Disability, or Mental Illness and aid in preventative methods as well as treatment for these populations through exercise and lifestyle changes. There are so much data to support dietary and lifestyle changes attributing to prevention or lowed progression for these groups of people and some of the people I love the most are part of these groups. My goal is to help who I can with what I can learn and do it all with love.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I empower men and women to be confident in the gym and in activities of daily living. My purpose is to motivate people to want to change negative behaviors for the amazing benefits of their overall health and wellness. I am proud of my achievements and my passion for learning as well as my passion for getting to know and love the people I work with. I have a place in my heart for anyone I meet and I am here for those people as long as they need me. I am known for my positive outlook on life. I believe there is no reason to worry when God has a plan. It is easy to be negatively impacted my the evil in this world such as body image expectations, bullying, social media standards, eating disorders, mental illness, diet culture, stressful work environments, sedentary lifestyle, and more. All these things are so harmful to us today and I have seen exercise and empowerment be the tools to combat this evil.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Positivity. I choose to not let the negative take over. We all have negative thoughts; however, we have the capability to turn them away. We like to have a choice and to be in control as human beings. You have the option to choose tools to combat the negative thoughts, it is a matter of choosing to use them. Positivity is hard, change is hard, failing is hard, but we all know this. But does persevering through something hard and making it through to new light now make the road all worth it? Getting through and being positive despite the pain or hurt can bring you so much more joy, life, and purpose for continuing on.
