Meet Candace Hershberger

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candace Hershberger.

Hi Candace, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been on this journey with thirty-one gifts (Praise Bags) since May of 2012! I started this journey because I needed a break from my precious girls, Esther (11) and Naomi (10), that I have the privilege of staying home with every day!

It was and is a wonderful way for me to get out and get some girl time and meet amazing new ladies like yourselves! Fast forward to April of 2013, my husband was diagnosed with cancer so my reason for staying and working with thirty-one definitely changed to be a bigger income provider for our family as my hubby went to treatments and Dr appointments and more! Never in a million years would I have thought that this purse selling fun would become a necessity for our little family. We also added a sweet little boy to our family, Titus (7)! I always say that Jesus knew I needed this before I did!

My husband’s cancer is finally in remission after 7 years of going through this journey!

My reason with thirty-one is still to provide for my family, but now I look forward to helping other women like me find a way to earn a bit more, or catch a small break from life at home, or to find great ways to organize. I can truly say that thirty-one has been way more than just a bag for me and I am excited to share all that we have to offer!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh no, not smooth at all, cancer makes everything hard. Small kids and time management does that too. Learning how to navigate as our lives and kids moved on was a really important struggle.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My favorite part of what I do is the personalization on the bags/totes. Many names are hard to find on things and this gives the opportunity to do just that. I also know the power of positive words throughout your home and this allows for verses or sayings to be added as well. I love having verses on my home decor and organizing totes as I am cleaning and working through the day, I love my customers and the ideas they have for their bags and totes too! Such creative ideas and so many possibilities!

What are your plans for the future?
The holidays are always a fun time and I look forward to more in person events and meeting new friends! We have some really adorable holiday prints on the way!
