Today we’d like to introduce you to Calvine Malonga-Rowland.

Hi Calvine, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve been working as a personal trainer since 2015. When I became pregnant in 2020, I found myself navigating a confusing landscape of fitness during pregnancy and postpartum. I felt the need to stay active, but the abundance of misconceptions in the fitness industry made me unsure about what was safe. Women were often cautioned to be extremely cautious during this period, and I didn’t want to make any mistakes. This uncertainty led me to become a specialist in prenatal and postpartum fitness.

This decision transformed my experience entirely. I was able to continue deadlifting and squatting as I had done before pregnancy. While this might have surprised some, it was an amazing achievement for me. My pregnancy and delivery went smoothly, and my recovery was swift. People often asked me how I managed to “snapback,” but I always clarified that my body had changed, and what they saw as a lean appearance was a result of healing through fitness.

Today, I specialize in helping mothers heal their bodies immediately after giving birth, with the approval of obstetricians. This allows them to start their recovery journey sooner rather than waiting for the traditional 6 to 8-week postpartum period.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Despite my knowledge and confidence in my fitness routine during pregnancy, people often projected their concerns and apprehensions about working out while expecting. However, beyond those external opinions, the experience was truly amazing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a pre and postpartum fitness specialist dedicated to assisting women in achieving their health and wellness goals. Through my app and personalized one-on-one sessions, both online and in person, I take pride in helping mothers from all corners of the world regain their strength and confidence, feeling more empowered but mostly healthy.

Additionally, it’s a significant achievement for me to be able to train clients in the United States, considering that I began learning English in 2015 and couldn’t speak a word back then. Now, I’m proud to say that I’m bilingual, and you might even pick up some French while working towards your dream body with me.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
My top priority in life is my family and loved ones, especially my son, who changed my life; they always come first. Professionally, my passion lies in educating women about the safety and benefits of exercising during pregnancy and after pregnancy. Equally important to me is spreading the message that, post-pregnancy, women have the power to heal their bodies through fitness, resulting in feeling sexier whatever body you have and stronger. I’m determined to dispel the numerous misconceptions that surround pregnancy and motherhood when it comes to fitness. Ultimately, my goal is to revolutionize the perception of fitness during motherhood and make a positive impact in helping women on their journey to well-being.
