Meet Caitlyn Boardman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlyn Boardman.

Caitlyn, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up I would always look at life as the glass was half empty and at eight years old I had told someone, someone I looked up to, that I wanted to go to acting school because I’ve always had a huge passion for cinema/TV, but then I was quickly told that that was “not realistic.” So that really stuck with me and made me think the only future for me was going to school and finding a job where I’m working 10 hours a day and going home for dinner and then repeat.

Then I grew up and have witnessed so many people follow their dreams and go after what they love and realized I’m the one in charge of my future. I’m in charge of my own happiness and achieving MY dreams. I also think about the people who have big dreams and are going to be successful, but then their life is cut short by some tragic accident, so I push myself to go after what I want because I know life is short and you need to go after what makes you happy and follow your dreams. That’s why I’m excited to start studying nutrition/fitness and even start practicing photography because those are things I’m passionate about.

Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve dealt with jobless that has pushed me back, depression that tells me I’ll never be good enough, and at one point, I was drinking heavily and that really pushed back all my goals but I kept pushing and stayed strong.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I like most about Phoenix is that there are a lot of things to do. Phoenix has many museums, bars, clubs, and so much art. I love all the art downtown. The thing I dislike about our city is that all the good stuff is downtown and far from me, ha kidding. But I don’t really know what I dislike, except the traffic.
