Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryanna Fernelius.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Beginning June of 2017, pole dance fitness gave me a newfound passion in my life. I was an athlete all throughout my childhood, competing in gymnastics and dance; and during college, I was a gym fanatic. I hit a point after college where the gym alone was no longer completely satisfying. I wanted to be physically and mentally challenged in a way that was only possible through sports involvement. I began searching online for adult dance classes near Phoenix. Pole dance fitness came up in my search, and I thought to myself, ‘why not?’. I trained 3-4 times a week at a pole fitness studio in Phoenix. I finally found what was missing in my life! I noticed such a positive change in my overall attitude and purpose; and I had a greater sense of personal achievement and happiness. My husband also recognized this change and was ecstatic that I became wholeheartedly involved in a sport that brings me such joy.
I found out I was pregnant in October of 2017. Since it was our first pregnancy, I wanted to play things safe. I stopped training pole at about 23 weeks pregnant (I had a pole installed in our apartment), but I continued to go to the gym regularly until the day of our son’s delivery. I took quite some time away from pole dance after our son’s birth in June of 2018. I was enjoying all the significant changes a newborn brought into our home. It wasn’t until November of 2018 that I was determined to begin a home workout regimen and fill that void I was feeling once again. Within two months of consistent exercise, I felt strong and confident enough to begin my pole journey post baby. I began training in our new home 3-4 times a week. I wanted to be advanced once more, but I also wanted to do so without harm or injury. By March of this year, I began teaching myself many skills that I had not learned before my pregnancy. Since I have always had a firm understanding of my body and how to move it, I was confident and capable of teaching myself safely at home. And once more, I felt completely whole as an individual, wife, mother, and friend.
In January of this year, I started teaching beginner pole classes out of my house. Currently, I teach almost every day of the week. I teach pole dance fitness, stretching classes, and overall conditioning/fitness classes. I love helping and supporting others along their fitness journeys. My main mission is to teach other women (especially mothers) and men all that I know regarding health and fitness. I believe that through pole dance fitness, I can help so many adults gain confidence in themselves while participating in a fun and fulfilling sport.
At the start of next year, I plan to open my own pole dance fitness studio, called Beautiful Bodies. I will have classes in pole, stretching, and overall fitness. We will also provide nutrition guidance. During my daytime classes, I will provide childcare for those moms that need some time for themselves without having to worry about their little ones. My studio will be somewhere in the Avondale/Glendale area. I am beyond excited to impact even more lives. Keep your eyes out! Soon, Beautiful Bodies Pole Dance Fitness with be making its mark in the West Valley!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, it has been a smooth road for me. There are times where balancing all aspects of my day-to-day life has been overwhelming, but by the end of the day, I love everything about what I do. I love being a mom (even during the very difficult days); I love being a wife and best friend to my sweet and hardworking hubby. I love being able to focus on my fitness and health (as well as my family’s), and I love teaching others what I am passionate about and helping them find a greater sense of purpose in themselves.
I know that the next few months are going to be a bit stressful as I buckle down on initial business planning so that I can open January of 2020. As many entrepreneurs know, opening a business has a lot of preparation and planning involved. However, I do have a lot of support and help to lift some of the load off of my shoulders. I know everything is going to work out the way I envision it, even if there are a couple of bumps in the road along the way.
Please tell us about Beautiful Bodies Pole Dance Fitness.
I have always been known for being ambitious regarding health and fitness. Now that I found a passion in pole dance fitness, I am now known as a fit and athletic mom. I share my pole fitness journey on Instagram. I primarily specialize in the fitness aspect of pole dance. Every day, I am learning and becoming more comfortable in the dance portion of pole sport. When Beautiful Bodies opens, I will be sure to have instructors that teach both pole fitness and pole dance, so that our students can best exercise in a manner that makes their fitness journey enjoyable. All of us deserve to feel and be BEAUTIFUL in our own BODIES.
I am proud that I can be an athlete and a mother. I know so many moms that tend to lose themselves as individuals after having children. I didn’t want that for myself. I am joyful that I found pole fitness and even more excited and motivated to influence other mothers to build their own confidence and strength at Beautiful Bodies Pole Dance Fitness, and I am excited and motivated to share this sport with other moms. I am also thrilled to help young women (and men) find a niche where they are supported by their pole family every day. I am happy to provide nutrition guidance to those that need help changing their habits in the kitchen to obtain ultimate health goals. And for those that may want to have a greater sense of fitness in general, I love going back to my routes and teaching classes where we build and tone muscle overall through conditioning. All of this will be possible at Beautiful Bodies Pole Dance Fitness.’
Another great feature that my studio will offer is childcare services during my daytime classes.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Opening Beautiful Bodies Pole Dance Fitness in January 2020. I am looking forward to sharing my passion with other women and men; and helping them grow physically, mentally and emotionally through pole dance fitness
