Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Salazar and Deni Banach.
Brittany and Deni, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Hi! We are Brittany and Deni, the awesome boss babe owners of Enroute Coffee & Tea. Our story of how we got started is a pretty simple one. We both have worked in the industry since we were young, so it is no surprise that we met while managing at a restaurant in Phoenix! We worked next to each other almost every day and we knew we were a great team! A perfect balance, if you will! We quickly became best friends and would talk about business names, menus, offerings, branding, and locations. It became apart of our everyday conversation. Our ultimate goal was to start a coffee shop from the bottom up in the west valley, but then we were presented with a golden opportunity to buy an existing coffee shop, called Enroute Coffee & Tea. We immediately called the brokers and fast forward less than 30 days later, we were the proud new owners of Enroute Coffee & Tea!
Has it been a smooth road?
Just like any small business, there are ups and downs. One of our biggest struggles was change. People tend to not be fans of change, so when our guest saw Deni and I behind the counter already it was difficult. Once we started to implement our vision, and get to know our guest, we were able to create a fiercely loyal base that is like our family.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Enroute Coffee & Tea story. Tell us more about the business.
Enroute coffee & tea is a full espresso and tea bar, we partnered up with a local family-owned roaster. Who sources organic direct trade coffee beans for our espresso, cold brew and drip coffee. We have an enormous selection of loose leaf teas, that can be prepared hot or iced anytime.
We pride ourselves on crafting every single drink to your personal preference while utilizing a wide variety of unique and premium ingredients to provide you with the best drinking experience here in the West Valley.
We like to think we are known for our wide variety of flavor combinations for our lattes and plant-based energy drinks.
To break the stereotypical model of what a coffee shop is known for. We can have fun, create new flavors, be unique. We don’t have to stick to a corporate form of a big box.
We have a lot to be proud of, considering we have only owned Enroute Coffee & Tea for nine months, we were able to quadruple the number of Instagram follows. We have a staff of five amazing workers. We won Best Coffee Shop in Phoenix Magazine, featured in a buzzfeed article and listed on Yelp as one of the top 50 restaurants in Arizona, all while renovating our coffee bar. Besides all that, Deni and I are proud of ourselves. We had some people question our decision but we believed in ourselves and here we are!
Besides what we are known for, we support our small business community.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
A trend we see happening is guests wanting more options to chose from. Variety and creativity is going to need to be the next level in every aspect of the industry. How far can we push the limits of coffee?
