Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany and Jesse Noble.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
We are both head over heels with photography and feel so dang lucky that we get to be wedding and elopement photographers! We both used to have big corporate jobs after we graduated college. What might have sounded impressive and glamorous on paper or on a resume just wasn’t igniting that creative spark in either of us. We realized that we both long to create, we long to have real connections. That’s why we quit our jobs the same month back in 2014 to dive into photography full time. Sink or swim, right? That first month was the most terrifying month of our lives, but it’s proven to be one of the best things we’ve ever done!
We dove head first into photography and never looked back. We didn’t think becoming full time photographers so quickly in such a saturated market was possible, but when you have no other income because you are both a little crazy and quit your jobs together, you literally have no choice but to make it work. And we did! It’s been the most fulfilling (and scary at first) decision, but a decision we are forever grateful we made.
Since then, we’ve had weddings and sessions in Cabo, Hawaii, California and lots of other places and we can’t wait to see where this job takes us and meet the couples we get to connect with in the future!
Please tell us about your art.
We truly believe we have the best job anyone could ever have. We get to meet some incredible couples and dig deep into their love. Whether it be an in-home session that shows the beauty and intimacy in simple day to day home life, or a wild adventure on a mountain top at sunset, we get to capture the quirks, the traits, the emotions they share that make up the fabric of their story. We get to create genuine moments together that generations will treasure for years to come. We want our couples to look back at the images we created together and fall back in love all over again remembering why they fell in love in the first place. That’s what it’s all about.
As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
Lots of other photographers define success as the moment you become a six-figure-earning photographer, or the moment you break into the luxury market, or get flown to exotic places around the world or published in a big blog or publication. But to us, what defines success is developing the ability to listen, observe and honestly and authentically tell a story. It’s not our job to create canned and artificial images that don’t mean anything, but it is our job to capture raw and gritty images that make you feel, that transport you into that moment and really speak to your heart and soul. The moment you learn how to do that for a couple, how to connect with them deeply and get them to feel comfortable and vulnerable with you, that moment is the definition of a photographer’s success. When that happens, your images become a story. They pull you in and envelop you in the moment they freeze in time. And no amount of money or plane tickets around the world can compare with that ability.
