Meet Britaney Parks of Wild Sage Healing LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Britaney Parks

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Well I began my career as a massage therapist through a crazy accident that I broke both of my arms at the same time. I was waiting tables and bartending at that time and in the process of healing I knew it was time to do something different.
I went back to school for massage therapy while working weekends at the bar.
As soon as I graduated and received my license from the state of Tennessee I got a job at a local spa. Once in this field the whole world of holistic medicine practices opened up to me. From there I’ve done a training in Acupressure, Thai Massage, Reiki Healing, Somatic Healing, Yoga Teacher Training, Yin Yoga Training. I’m very passionate about helping the body heal largely due to my own healing journey. I’ve learned how the body responds to trauma and what it takes to release stored or repressed emotions and energy. A lot of my clients see a difference almost immediately in their body from one session.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No it has not been a smooth road. lol. Being a small business owner is a lot of work. This will be my 5th year in business. 2 years in Tennessee, 2 years in Florida, and now I’m here in Scottsdale to put down some roots. It’s hard to begin again in a new place where you do not know anyone. But I think it gets easier each time. I think the biggest challenge I have is not letting my work consume me. I have to set boundaries with my time so that I have time for life. Even though I absolutely love my work and feel that it is an extension of me, I still need time away from it to live life.
Life is everything outside of work.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
As a holistic massage practitioner I see the body as a whole. Each system affects another. I feel that I am a space holder for your body to remember who you are under the chronic pain, injury, trauma etc.
I specialize in Acupressure massage, Thai massage, Reiki Healing, and Somatic Healing. I find that my practice is different than others because there is not a one-size-fits-all process for healing. Each client is different, and how the body responds to holistic practices is also different for each individual. I direct my clients to tune in with what their body is saying. My sessions are client led. And I also work with the body to achieve results rather than just digging in and having your body respond with guarding against my touch. We only heal where we feel safe. And if you are clenching or tensing up because my pressure is too deep, we are defeating the purpose of your being here for a massage. In a session your nervous system should be able to let go into rest and digest (which is the space you heal). We spend most of our lives, especially these days in fight or flight or survival mode and in order to truly heal we have to allow the nervous system to downshift. Which is something I find I love the most about my sessions. I am intuitive and can tell the moment when the body “let’s go”. It’s super fascinating.
