Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianne Tremp & Chelsea McLoone
Hi Brianne & Chelsea, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Chelsea and I had the idea for Launch Assisters after we each, separately, dabbled in a total of about 8 different small businesses. For one reason or another, none of them turned out to be “THE” thing for either of us. In talking about this together one day, we realized — we had both struggled a lot in our early businesses with the practical steps of how to get the business off the ground. How to file an LLC? Did we REALLY need a business bank account? What the heck was a ‘brand identity’?
We struggled with finding the answers and often spun our wheels trying to decide what steps were really necessary and in what order, let alone how to actually execute. But — as we tried new businesses, the startup process got easier and faster. We thought- what if there was a tool that gave you all the information you need to get a business set up without having to go down endless Google searches and spending hours overthinking the possibilities? Such a tool would have been a game changer for us in our early journey of small business ownership; we bet it could be for others too!
Thus, Launch Assisters was born! As a busy mom, boss lady, or free-spirited adventurer, the time, energy and (usually) finances available to start a business are limited. We know this because we wear those hats, and we’ve been there, done that, trying to juggle those parts of our lives with building a business. Our goal is to help save other women from the headache and tears we often found ourselves in during the early stages of business and instead help them gain the freedom, flexibility, and fulfillment of small business ownership!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has NOT been a smooth road for us! It took us 8 small businesses to get here! And to be honest, we’re still learning. But the beauty of our struggles is that we can take each new thing we learn and turn it into products that help other women avoid the same pitfalls.
One of the biggest struggles we’ve had is navigating our differences of opinion. Often, our opinions and ways of doing things couldn’t be more different. Brianne likes color, Chelsea likes neutrals. Brianne likes flowers and traditional vibes, Chelsea likes modern lines. Brianne is a list maker and holistic thinker. Chelsea is a sequential processor and better at going with the flow. While being polar opposites in many ways has made our business journey more challenging, we whole-heartedly believe it has made our business better. Instead of having ONE way of doing things or solving a problem, together, we take a multi-angeled approach, and our products and services reflect the balance of our personalities so that no matter who you are and how you work, our products can serve you.
Another struggle we have each faced in our previous small businesses is over-investing in ‘shiny’ solutions for growth. Courses, Memberships, Services, Tools, etc. In feeling uncertain about our next steps, we bought more and more information and services trying to figure out how to solve problems. We’ve taken this experience to heart in our current business and have been much more strategic about how we invest – and we are passionate about teaching others that they DON’T need “all the shiny things” to have a successful business; they need to invest wisely in the RIGHT things.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Launch Assisters?
Our signature product is called LaunchFolio — it is built in Trello and walks you through each part of the process for getting a small business off the ground, step by step. We give you the ‘what’, suggestions for resources, questions or options to consider in executing, and just enough of the ‘why’ to help you make an informed decision about HOW and to set a priority for your own unique life and business.
In addition, we offer affordable logo, brand, and website design to help new small business owners offload these bigger tasks – if you can’t (or don’t want) to do it yourself – without breaking the bank. Lastly, we offer a variety of digital products that dive deep into specific tasks within the startup process, to give you what you need to conquer those tasks with ease.
We value simplicity, practicality, and balance in all things. We avoid complicated jargon and break down information so it’s easy to use and move forward in your small business journey – armed with the knowledge you need to make informed decisions about how to best invest your time, energy, and money.
What are your plans for the future?
Yes! We’re excited to announce that in the coming months, we’re going to be expanding the scope of our business! While helping women start their own businesses will remain a core focus, we’re broadening our brand, message, and offerings to address a wider range of challenges that come with ‘getting started’. We know that embarking on something new—whether it’s a business, a lifestyle change, or a personal project—can be daunting, and it’s often where people feel overwhelmed and give up. Our mission is to empower women to conquer those tough early stages by providing them the support and resources needed to confidently take on new ventures in all areas of life.
