Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Tate.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Brian. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I began playing poker online in high-school around the age of 17. A couple years into college, I decided to focus on playing professional poker full time. This brought me from Michigan to AZ, and eventually LA, where I regularly played in the biggest mixed cash games in the world.

After 12 years of poker, I decided to move into business with Oats Overnight. I had been experimenting with homemade overnight oats for my fitness routine, and eventually grew tired of stocking the ingredients and preparing them nightly. A quick look around the marketplace yielded no results for prepackaged, convenient versions.

I launched the company in late 2016 selling directly to consumers around the US via Shopify. We surpassed 1 million dollars in revenue within our first year. Our team is quickly growing to keep up with the increasing demand for our unique breakfast solution.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Our road thus far has been relatively smooth. Having no prior experience in CPG or digital marketing, we have made quite a few mistakes. Our team is very research oriented. We view all of these mistakes as an opportunity to grow and move forward.

Please tell us about Oats Overnight.
Oats Overnight’s goal is to allow everyone a healthy, great-tasting breakfast that requires zero time spent in the morning.

We make prepackaged mixes of oats, protein, fruit and superfoods that you prepare the night before and are ready to eat in the morning. Before bed, you simply add a cup of milk to the blender bottle we provide, pour in a pack of Oats Overnight and refrigerate. In the morning, you’ll wake up to a delicious breakfast with 34 grams of protein that you can eat on-the-go.

They are available in 3 amazing flavors – Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana, Strawberries and Cream and Green Apple Cinnamon.

Each serving of Oats Overnight contains a whopping 34g of protein with the recommended preparation. We are known for our custom protein blends that are created in house, unique for each flavor profile. You cannot find flavors of protein like this in the store. Each package contains an extremely low 5g of sugar for each 84g of dry product, coming almost entirely from the real fruit inside.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Above all, I would have been much more selective with the relationships I formed and agencies we have engaged. There are plenty of landmines to avoid, especially for a small up-and-coming startup.
