Meet Brian Greenberg of True Blue Life Insurance in Scottsale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Greenberg.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started out with Metlife in 2003 selling insurance products. I was told that life insurance is always sold, and never bought. I found is that this is not always the case.

I decided to start a website that aggregated the rates from many insurance carriers that allows customers to research and apply online. I believe that insurance is best bought, and not sold.

I implemented an informational website and began gathering reviews from our satisfied customers. I began to rank our website in search engines such as Google and we have steadily grown into a multi-million dollar insurance agency.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting a digital life insurance agency has been a struggle because we are battling the status quo of the life insurance selling model. Over the years, people have become more open to this new business model of selling online. Along the way, I have dealt with people that did not want us to succeed. What I have found is that if you run an honest, ethical, and transparent company, you will outlast those that try to knock you down. In this digital age, your online reputation is of the utmost importance.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about True Blue Life Insurance Inc – what should we know?
People have called me “The Salesman Who Doesn’t Sell” because I have sold thousands of life insurance policies without ever meeting a client face-to-face. We sell directly to consumer life insurance policies. We allow people to run quotes and take qualifying questionnaires to make sure they can get the policies they apply for. We specialize in a new type of life insurance policy that does not require the applicant to take a medical exam. Instead, the insurance companies rely on public data such as a pharmacy report that shows all the medications the person has taken over the past 5-7 years. This has allowed us to cut the insurance process from 6-8 weeks, down to 1 – 7 days.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I am fortunate to have a family with a long history in entrepreneurship. My father has been my mentor from the beginning, teaching me how to create a scalable and passive business model. I have also had several business/life coaches over the years that have taught me how to keep focused on my goals.
