Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandy Lesaffre.
Brandy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always had a caretaker mentality and have thrived on the care and satisfaction of others around me. When I took a position with National Hair Loss, I knew that it would feed my need to help others find the most beautiful versions of themselves. Having had post-partum hair loss myself not once but TWICE, I felt terrified that I was going to be bald and there was nothing that could be done. Hair Loss can be so lonely and scary if you don’t have someone guiding you through the experience. Beauty is more than the hair on our heads, and luckily, we don’t even need hair to survive (thank goodness) but most of us prefer to keep our hair. I’m privileged daily to consult with men, women, and parents of children who desire to find the cause of their hair loss. Finding the cause is one piece of the puzzle and often it can be a pretty intricate puzzle at that. Consultations are complementary and can take an hour or more at times depending on the circumstances and medical history of a patient. Often times, a person will present with fears of hair shedding and through the education we provide, we can help retrain the mentality that shedding is not always a bad thing.
Patients are often sent to us from hospitals, dermatologists and family practitioners when they have tried “everything” for their hair loss and they feel at a dead end. Since we provide at home therapies for patients that do not require In-Person follow up, many days are spent doing virtual consultations with patients worldwide and giving them all of their options to combat their hair loss. Nothing gives us more satisfaction than being able to accurately identify the cause of a patient’s hair thinning/loss most often within the initial consultation. Once the cause is identified, I’m able to build a customized hair recovery program with the primary goal of stopping any further loss immediately. From there, I work hand in hand with my patient to recover all hair we can and make the hair as healthy as possible. Behind my office door, there are many tears that are shed, as hair loss can be an emotional journey but there are also tears of happiness and faces that light as a person realizes that we can get on top of this and help them meet their hair goals.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It wouldn’t be honest if I said every day was smooth sailing. Let me explain, I want nothing more than for every patient to succeed with their hair goals and when I see someone struggling emotionally with their hair loss I definitely take it to heart. We often are sent some really complex hair loss cases and it can take a while for some to start having visible success, this is where our guidance and encouragement go a long way to keep a patient encouraged. This is the biggest struggle for myself, wanting every person to see success quickly, sometimes it takes longer but we will always do what is in the best interest of the patient and will patiently walk together towards success.
Please tell us about National Hair Loss.
We are a Scottsdale and Beverly Hills based hair loss concierge with consultants who are trained in identifying all types of hair loss. Each consultation is complimentary and takes about an hour depending on the case complexity. When a patient comes to see me in person I use a microscopic device to look at their hair and evaluate normal VS. sickly hairs, dormant hair follicles and check for any abnormalities of the scalp. After identifying the cause for hair loss, I put together a custom Hair Recovery program based on the speed at which a person wants to meet their hair goals. We are known for our successful tracking programs which have really set us apart from many, we don’t just get you started with a regimen and wish you luck, we are with you every step of the way.
Although our main office resides at The Scottsdale Quarter, NHL has satellite offices also located throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area. We’ve been able to establish strong relationships with Phoenix/Scottsdale based physicians, plastic surgeons, Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center at Honor Health and Arizona Oncology.
I am so proud of the work we do, each day my cup is overflowing with gratitude for the trust that each patient and their referred providers put in us.
Is there anyone, in particular, you would like to recognize? Mentors, etc?
I have my ENTIRE team to thank for my success! I have been so incredibly fortunate to be personally mentored by Carly Klein, the President of National Hair Loss who is a respected leader in the industry. Brittany Gaines is our Brand Ambassador and travels full time to bring our education programs to stylists and Physicians US wide. She has connected me to SO many worldwide whom I’ve been able to help and is endlessly working to bring more awareness to what we do at NHL. Stephen Madaus and Hannah Reed head up our Hair Recovery programs in our Beverly Hills office and have been an integral part of our Hair Loss team. We often say “Teamwork Makes the dream work” although perhaps cheesy, it’s how we really feel. We each are cheerleaders not only for our patients but also for one another. We build each other up and give one another the energy needed to successfully support each of our patients.
