Meet Bob Giammarco of AE Media in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bob Giammarco.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Bob. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
AE Media was founded in 2013, transforming our audio post studio, audioEngine, into a full-service production and post-production company.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth? Hardly! Nothing in the entire business segment of production and post-production has been smooth in the past decade. The business model has been radically changed by technology, changes in consumption habits which lower the need for quality, as well as the in-house movement which often places independent producers in competition with their clients. We’ve faced increased costs and narrowing margins.

Please tell us about your company.
We’re a full-service company but our focus is on live-action production with a visual storytelling style as well as audio post-production, which at one point in time, was our sole business. What am I proud of? We’re still in business! Since the economy took a nosedive in 2009, I’ve seen many peers go under. We’ve transformed and survived. But I’ll always be most proud of our reputation for great work and serving our clients at an extremely high level.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
We’ve contributed to some of the most iconic commercials in recent times. On a personal note, I’m proud to have finally gotten a vlog/podcast on fatherhood and co-parenting started, subjects that are very near and dear to me.
