Meet Blanca Marion of Dulces Calavera

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blanca Marion.

Hi Blanca, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been a constant busy-bee. I can’t seem to stay still when it comes to accomplishing things. I’m a BMW mechanic and I worked in a shops for about 6 years. When I had my baby girl I became a stay-at-home mom. I didn’t want to miss out on all her firsts. After staying home for so long, I couldn’t just not do anything. I started volunteering in things. I started my online school and I am working on my degree to become a teacher. I still work on cars on the side but I have centered my focus on teaching younger kids about Auto-mechanics. I teach an auto club at Grande Innovation Academy. I also am a Sponsorship Coordinator and Fundraising Coordinator for the Casa Grande Little League. I also babysit my friend’s child on Fridays. On top of that, I am a mom of 3. Above all, I started my own Chamoy Candy business. Needless to say, I stay busy. One thing I’ve always loved was chamoy candy. I use to spend a lot of money on just candy. It became harder to spend that extra freely when we became a one-income home. I decided to learn how to make it and then I got very good feedback! So, I decided to sell my product. I’ve added my business to my list of talents and enjoy doing it so much!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It wasn’t a smooth road because I wasn’t prepared for the starter expenses you need to start a business. If I bought items individually, I would be making no profit. So, I found wholesale store that sold the candy I needed. I also had to do that math and get the best prices for profit out of my jars.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
One thing I love is sugar skulls and roses! I have a few sugar skull tattoos and roses. That’s how I came up with my logo. At Dulces Calavera we make homemade custom chamoy candy. The most important part is the chamoy sauce. It can go on any type of candy. I take all request and try my best to make my customers more than happy. I also make chamoy dips. In the case that someone doesn’t want candy, you can use it as Rim Dip for your beer, beverage of choice, or fruit! My signature is a special topping sprinkled in every jar and I will add a complimentary fruit roll up in each jar (per customer approval).

We sell each 8oz jar for $8 or this awesome deal of 3 8oz jars for $20! Rim dip is $10. You can pick up if your local and I ship as well for out of town.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
My family matters most to me. I want to show my kids you can do anything and everything you set your mind to. There are no barriers when you work hard. Nothing can stop you when you really want to accomplish something.

Pricing:

  • 1 (8oz) jar for $8- customizable candy
  • 3 (8oz) jar for $20-customizable candy
  • 1 (8oz) Rim Dip $10- chamoy or mango
