Meet Blanca Estela Olivas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blanca Estela Olivas.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always had a passion for makeup since I was in middle school, but I never had money to buy any. When I went to high school, my mom would buy me really cheap makeup from the dollar store and I would only wear one color eyeshadow on my lid and black eyeliner in my waterline and mascara. It wasn’t much but that was when it all started! When I graduated high school and got my first job, I started buying my own makeup. Since the first time, I actually did a full face of makeup I fell in love! Something about concentrating to get the perfect cut crease or wing is so therapeutic! Sometimes, when I am having a bad week, just doing my eye makeup really helps me forget what I was upset about. I had finally found something I was good at and loved doing and I wasn’t going to stop doing what finally made me happy. Then, that is when I started watching YouTube videos to get better at doing my makeup and I got so inspired to start my own channel but I was too scared of what people would think or if anyone would even watch my videos. A couple of weeks later, I finally got the guts to film my first video!

On February 3rd, 2017, I uploaded my first YouTube video and I do not regret it one bit! The love and positive feedback I got from just one video really made me realize that is was just the beginning to something amazing! I then got more frequent with my uploads and started posting mini makeup tutorial videos and makeup posts on Instagram and slowly my platform started growing. Now, two years and 191 videos later, I am at almost 400 subscribers on YouTube and over 1,000 followers on Instagram, I knew this is what I was meant to do! I am always on the lookout to try new makeup and skincare products for my lovely babes! I always try to get out of my comfort zone to try something new with my makeup and I always receive amazing feedback. I also feel so blessed for the brands that believe me and have partnered with me, even them reposting my makeup looks is something I am so grateful for.

I have big dreams and goals to accomplish and I feel I am on the right track to accomplishing them! I still remember using my Android phone I had at the time and my living room lamps and a piece of fabric to film my videos and now, I use my canon camera and box and ring lights and backdrops, blancaestelabeauty has turned into something I could have never imagined! Just to remember how nervous and scared I was two years ago and how now I am so much confident in my own skin, believing in myself and getting out go my comfort zone has really helped me feel better in my own skin and that is what I am the proudest of! I have always been so insecure in my own skin and I always found makeup to help cover up the flaws I thought I had and I think that was always the main reason why I started doing makeup, but now, I am much more confident in my own skin, even without makeup and I now know you don’t need to have 1,000 lbs. of makeup on to feel beautiful! Being yourself and loving yourself is what makes you beautiful!

Other than making myself feel beautiful when I create amazing looks, I also love making others feel beautiful by doing their makeup! Seeing how happy they get and the reaction I receive when they look in the mirror and love the way they look makes me so happy! Knowing that I made someone feel beautiful and confident in their own skin makes me proud of doing what I do! I hope to one day turn Blancaestelabeauty into something much bigger and if I keep doing what I am doing and keep giving it my all I can turn that dream into a reality! None of this could be possible without my supporters and subscribers, I am the most grateful for you, my babes! All your love and support has made all this worth it!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been an easy road. When I first started, I always had a hard time filming because I didn’t have the right equipment and I wasn’t always confident in front of the camera, but I was patient and worked with what I had and worked on my confidence and now I know those struggles were meant to make me grow and try harder for what I wanted.

Also, having a full-time job and having a YouTube channel takes up a lot of your time and you don’t really have enough time to do other things, but I know it will all be worth it in the end!

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I upload videos on YouTube every week, I either upload tutorials, product reviews, makeup hauls, and I also unbag my monthly subscriptions! I also post makeup posts and makeup tutorial videos on Instagram and I also do people’s makeup on the side when someone asks me to. Doing what I am doing has really gotten me noticed by brands and some have partnered with me for review their products and I have some affiliated discount codes that save my followers and subscribers money on some of the brands that I have partnered up with. I only partner with a brand if I truly believe in their products and actually love them. I have turned down some offers because at the end of the day I want to stay true to my supporters! I hope to one day get noticed by bigger brands and hopefully partner up with them!

What are you striving for, what criteria or markers have you set as indicators of success?
Success to me means doing and loving what you love to do and not giving up on yourself. You can be making a lot of money doing something, but if you are unhappy doing that specific thing, then you are not succeeding. Making money and having a big house and a nice car does not define success to me. Accomplishing a goal you have been working for is succeeding. Waking up in the morning and going to your job that you always look forward to every day is succeeding. I am happy doing what I am doing and when I give myself deadlines to film a specific video and I actually meet them or when I get noticed by a brand and they want to partner with me or even when another Instagram account reposts one of my makeup look posts that to me is being successful! I always look forward to the next video I am going to be filming and when I actually film it and see how great it came out I feel so much success and satisfaction! Only you can define your own success! Don’t ever let anyone tell you are not successful just because you aren’t making 5 or 6 figures a month or because you don’t have your dream house yet. If you are happy doing what you do when you are already succeeding in life, everything else will be a bonus and it won’t even matter because you aren’t doing it for the bonus that life will give you. I truly consider myself successful right now because I am in a different and better place in life then I was a couple of years ago.
