Meet BETTY RAMIREZ of CHANDLER

Today we’d like to introduce you to BETTY RAMIREZ.

Hi BETTY, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?

My journey really started with a love for people and their stories. I’ve always believed that when we share our experiences—especially across cultures—we build understanding and stronger communities. That belief is what guided me into film, media, and community service.

For the past eight years, I’ve served as Vice President of the Chandler International Film Festival. Through this role, I’ve had the opportunity to support independent and international filmmakers and help grow the festival into a space where diverse voices are not only welcomed but celebrated. Film, for me, is a powerful tool—it opens conversations, challenges perspectives, and connects us beyond language or borders.

That passion for storytelling led me to Fortis Femina, where I am a producer and story writer. Fortis Femina focuses on the strength, resilience, and leadership of women. It became more than a film—it turned into a mission to uplift women’s voices and inspire the next generation. From there, I began hosting the Fortis Femina radio show, giving women and community leaders a platform to share their journeys, challenges, and successes.

Community involvement has always been a foundation of my work. I serve on the City of Chandler Human Relations Commission, where I advocate for inclusion, respect, and collaboration among our diverse communities. I am also actively involved with Chandler Sister Cities, working to strengthen cultural and international relationships across Arizona and with Mexico.

Every role I hold is connected by one purpose: building bridges. Whether through film, radio, or community service, my goal is to bring people together, celebrate diversity, and create spaces where every voice matters.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Sometimes it’s a challenge trying to bring different cultures together and working with people from different countries can be difficult because everybody has a different perspective and outlook and they might be coming from a system where things are done very differently.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I like to connect people and build bridges between different groups and cultures. People know me for that and for my love of helping my community to be a better place for families and people to live and thrive and grow.

I specialize in community building, cultural connections and international relations through the arts, film, and education. I’m best known for creating meaningful platforms that connect people across cultures—especially through programs like Chandler Sister Cities, the Chandler International Film Festival, and Fortis Femina which highlights and uplifts women and other leaders and their stories.

What I’m most proud of is my ability to bring people together—across generations, cultures, and backgrounds—and turn ideas into impactful, long-lasting programs. Whether it’s developing cultural exchanges, mentoring young leaders, or producing events that celebrate global voices, my work is always rooted in connection, inclusion, and purpose.

What sets me apart is my combination of vision, community trust, and hands-on leadership. I don’t just plan initiatives—I build relationships, nurture collaboration, and ensure that every project reflects authenticity, cultural respect, and real community impact. I lead with heart, strategy, and experience, always focused on creating spaces where people feel seen, valued, and inspired.
