Meet Beth McRae of Scottsdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth McRae.

Hi Beth, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m the third owner of High Society Resale Boutique in Scottsdale which was founded in 1984. I’ve always loved consignment and resale shopping so I was delighted to take over this fine boutique which specializes in high-quality and designer resale for women. From designer bags, shoes and clothing to numerous well-know brands we cater to women who love fashion but don’t want to pay retail.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Summers are notoriously tough for retail and restaurants in Scottsdale. People travel a lot and don’t always feel like shopping when it’s hot out. This has been tough for our business and we continually have to come up with creative sales and promotions to drive traffic to our boutique. We also struggled to get our website in front of the right women so they can shop online.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In addition to owning High Society Resale Boutique I also run a full-service PR and marketing firm called The McRae Agency, based in Scottsdale. We just celebrated 30 years in business. I have an MBA which definitely sets me apart along with longevity of my agency. I’m also known for my decades of charitable work throughout the Phoenix area.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
I recommend having savings set aside for those tough times in business.
