Meet Beth Beeson of La Jolie Fête in Gilbert

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth Beeson.

Beth, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Growing up everyone would always ask, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” and normally my answers would have been along the lines of what most kids my age would answer such as a ballerina or princess but it wasn’t until the birth of my daughter Sophia in 2011 that my passion was sparked with what eventually led me to start my company, La Jolie Fête.

After her birth, I found myself wanting to celebrate every little thing about her first year of life, especially her first birthday. It was from there that I found much happiness from planning, coordinating and throwing celebrations of all types. I can still remember how much I stressed about finding the perfect combination of various shades of pinks from her cupcake frosting to party decor.

As a Veteran and military spouse exiting the Marine Corps, I was unsure of my career once I stepped out of the military community so I knew I wanted to create something for myself that would be fluid enough for me to take with me as we continued to move every three years or so.

In 2014 our family was stationed in California and we lived in Long Beach, a beautiful city that was filled with all types of creatives that influenced, inspired and encouraged me to officially launch LJF in August 2017. Although we are in the startup stages of business, I am eager to see how LJF continues to evolve as we continue to flourish and grow each passing year!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road of an entrepreneur is nothing short of a literal roller coaster but each struggle or challenge is an opportunity to make or break you, the decision is up to the individual. As a small business owner, I face a variety of challenges each day, most of them I’m able to handle on my own while others require me to do some in-depth research or call a friend for advice.

One of the first challenges I faced when starting La Jolie Fête was creating a pricing menu for my products and services. It was difficult trying to figure out how much to pay myself for my work and stay true to my pricing as I was just starting out. There were opportunities that presented themselves to give me and my business “exposure” versus payment but more than half of those ended up being a waste of my time and energy with no real return on investment.

Another challenge I face is the constant struggle of wearing so many hats in my business and when I became overwhelmed with the amount of work to be done, I realized that I needed to start delegating tasks out to other professionals and focus on what mattered to me the most in the business.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
