Meet Benedikt Brueckle of CompuGroup Medical US in Central

Today we’d like to introduce you to Benedikt Brueckle.

Benedikt, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Mars Medical was one of the first web-based Practice Management (PM) solutions on the market. Based in Phoenix, AZ, Mars developed a number of eHealth and SaaS solutions. In 2006, Mars merged with Noteworthy Medical, an EHR (electronic health records) system company from Ohio. This merger enabled Mars Medical to take the Noteworthy name and offer SaaS PM & EHR solutions. In 2007, Mars was sold to CompuGroup Medical SE (CGM SE), one of the world’s largest ambulatory health IT company focused solely on e-Health. CGM SE invested in Noteworthy in 2009 and 2010 and since then Noteworthy, which included Mars Medical’s NetPracticePM and EHRweb products are combined under CompuGroup Medical US Inc. (CGM) which still today is headquartered in Phoenix.

As an owner-led and publicly traded company, CGM uniquely combines the personal touch of a local business with the strength of a global entity. We are committed to meeting and exceeding our clients’ expectations, and our goal is to become the #1 choice for all healthcare providers in the United States – a position we have already achieved in many other countries around the world.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. Not only are the first steps for a foreign company in a new country always challenging, but right when we came into the market, it was disrupted due to the HITECH Act. But we took the challenge and grew with it. On the technological side, we were challenged by the change from locally installed software to cloud-based software products. We had to completely reinvent ourself and our products.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with CompuGroup Medical US – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our next generation product, CGM MediOne is a scalable, cloud based fully integrated EHR. The solution is targeted for ambulatory practices of all sizes, and enable users to coordinate patient care while complying with health care reform demands such as the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), population health and other value-based care requirements.

CGM MediOne is an Ambulatory Information System (AIS) platform for several countries including the USA, France, Italy, South Africa and more. CompuGroup Medical SE has chosen the United States as their core location for this new initiative. The central purpose of an AIS is to support practitioners in all aspects of their practice, e.g. clinical documentation, decision support or office management. Our new generation of solutions will leverage cutting-edge technology to provide the best in class customer experience by supporting and optimizing our customer’s workflow.

CGM MediOne is a flexible browser-based software application able to be hosted centrally as a cloud SaaS solution in countries where this is permitted (USA) or hosted right in the medical office when internet connectivity to patient records is controlled. This application is based on our proprietary GAT (Global AIS Template) source code and libraries which are developed jointly by German and American colleagues.

The goal is to allow a variety of countries to quickly provide customized products to their markets by having a fully integrated AIS software platform with a shared code base, unified tools, and processes. In other words: one vision, one team, one platform, multiple products.

Our healthcare professionals and patients will be able to use our offering anywhere in the world. Our solution will travel with patients and will be a standard for all countries. Our Meaningful Use and ICD-10 enabled products to allow users to securely store, exchange and access important clinical and financial insight anytime and anywhere. We connect doctors, hospitals, community health facilities, dentists, pharmacists, health insurers and other service providers to create an integrated a network of all healthcare stakeholders.

CGM MediOne will present CGM the opportunity to shape the future of how our customers all around the world do their work, whether it be for a single practitioner or big clinics with multiple providers. It will also be platform agnostic for use on tablets and desktops independent from the Operating System used. CGM MediOne will be creating global market opportunities and bring great value for both healthcare providers and patients.

Currently, the vast majority of EHRs are trying to find a niche to differentiate themselves but their differences are small and varying regarding some of the functionality. By revolutionizing the user experience, CGM MediOne aims to put the medical provider at the center of the application and bring together data from every available source – medical & financial records, pharmacies, insurance payors, labs, and genetic analysis just to name a few. CGM MediOne will be the first AIS of its kind providing our users with a truly innovative, one of a kind experience which puts all the most relevant clinical, and financial data immediately at their fingertips. Moreover, CGM MediOne is flexible – allowing the providers to endlessly modify and streamline the workflows to their liking. Because of the explosive growth of medical knowledge, CGM MediOne will offer real-time predictive analytics enabling providers to make the best decisions possible with the vast troves of data they are now faced with. Finally, unlike any other AIS provider, CGM is also an insurance clearinghouse so we are able to effectively and efficiently manage the reimbursement process from end to end and ensure our customers see a steady and maximum revenue stream.

CGM MediOne state-of-the-art independent software platform allows for the integration and analysis of volumes of patient data from a variety of sources including EHRs and PM’s. CGM MediOne aggregates the data and presents it to providers, payers, organizations, and patients in a usable format.

Our customized solution standardizes data across a broad spectrum of platforms that uses superior data aggregation, analysis, advanced analytics, and reporting. This delivers vital information that impacts patient outcomes, health care quality, and successful disease management. CGM MediOne is user-friendly, intuitive and has advanced business intelligence functionality that requires minimal training. We use best-in-class technology that promotes the successful evaluation of healthcare costs, quality, and outcomes in an era of value-based care.

CGM MediOne is flexible, customizable, device independent, it will run on desktop computers as well as mobile devices and is agnostic to clinical systems (CGM can import clinical data through standardized and well-established data exchange technologies), powerful and unique to the market. The system has already proven its positive effect on patients’ health and its significant cost savings for the healthcare system in several pilot studies.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
We like best about Phoenix the fast growth of the city and the economy that attracts companies and talent from all over the world. We like the weather, the opportunities to spend time outdoors as well as the diverse community. We do not like the increased traffic and the summer months.
