Meet Ben Lau of Wild West Paintball and Airsoft Park in East Mesa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben Lau.

Ben, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been playing this sport “Paintball” for about 5 years. I have been to many different fields throughout Phoenix. While searching around on the internet I found this field called Wild West Paintball. Since then, I have been playing at this facility. Paintball is a fun sport, is a good way to release stress, and just have some fun during the week with your friend and family. After playing at this field, I heard that Wild West Paintball is for sale. Since I have the passion for paintball so I decide to approach the owner and see what happen. After talking to the owner, and discussed with my brother Jake, We decide to buyout Wild West Paintball and change the name to “Wild West Paintball and Airsoft Park” since March of 2014.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We have been fortunate to have a steady and consistent growth throughout the years however the road has had been smooth and bumpy. Running an outdoor paintball/airsoft field can be very tough in Arizona because the paintball scene is not as big as in California and on the East Coast. Not only that, the summer heat as well!

Since becoming the owner of Wild West Paintball and Airsoft Park, We grow so much throughout the year. We started from only 10-15 people during the weekend to 100+ peoples. Not only the amount of people is growing into this sport, the sport is growing as well in Arizona.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Wild West Paintball and Airsoft Park – what should we know?
Wild West Paintball has been around for 5 years in Mesa, Arizona. We are the field that let the kid even adult to have some outdoor fun during the weekend.

Our main goal is not just only promote this sport for “fun” however we are promoting this sport as an educational sport. Playing paintball/airsoft can be good for more than just fun. There are health benefits as well. Paintball/Airsoft has been a popular sport for a long time. Even though it is called an extreme sport, Paintball/Airsoft is one activity that can be enjoyed with friends and family. This sport has a plethora of benefits that bring about all-round development in people. Apart from the physical exercise, paintball/airsoft also offers mental health benefits. Paintball/Airsoft popularity also lies in the simplicity of the game. All you need is the required protective gear and a paintball/airsoft gun and you are ready to go.
