Today we’d like to introduce you to Beezy and Better Known.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
We go way back when we attended South Mountain High School. We would hang out and chill like normal high school kids from time to time. After high school, we both went our separate ways, each working part-time jobs and attending different colleges.
I, Better Known, went to Phoenix College, pursuing a degree in animation, later changing it three more times and settling with accounting. I later dropped out to focus on running a small tire shop. I later decided to close the shop after watching the business go down. I later reconnected with Beezy in the process of closing the shop. He sends me a message wanting me to send him a beat since a mutual friend told him I do music. I send him the beat; he loved it so much we connected again and begun this music journey.
“Hey, what’s up everyone, you can call me Beezy! I’m just a cat from Phoenix, Arizona, So what had happened was I was chilling, you know in the cutt, It was right around the time I attended ASU, and I heard that Better Known made beats in his spare time. So I hit him up, collabed and Boom! We were already dropping tracks back to back. Its been a really cool and fun process and throughout the whole thing, I believe me and him have learned a lot from each other and just being an artist all around. I’m looking forward to the future and want to let everyone know that they can accomplish anything they put their mind to! like for reals tho..”
Please tell us about your art.
We are a Rap duo who like to produce the best music we possibly can. Some of the different themes our songs are about are our struggles, experiences, about dumb shit, and whatever inspires us. We take different artistic approaches to discover new music vibes, sometimes revisit old ones, but overall have fun with it.
We want people to take our music for what it is, relatable and laid back. Paint a picture with sounds, and take listeners on a trip, an experience, and provoke minds to get those gears turning. Also give them that vision, that confidence, to create whatever it is they love.
At the end of the day, we just want to share to the world what inspires us and for people to enjoy it, just like we do.
Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
Art comes with a bit of sacrifice. If art is your passion ask yourself something, “Are you willing to skip a meal?” “Are you willing to work a few extra shifts?” “Are you willing to cancel Netflix or Hulu?” “Are you willing to stay in for the weekend?” It starts off by putting some money on the side. Pay yourself first. It doesn’t have to be a big chunk of your paycheck. It can be as simple as putting one dollar a day in that hungry piggy bank. It’s not a race, its a process. Also, work with what you have. If you have a phone, tablet, computer it does not matter. Get creative! Eventually, your work will pay for itself. I mean we’re artists aren’t we!
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
People can see our work on YouTube, where most of our work gets premiered. People can also stream our music through most streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Google Music, Tidal, etc. If people really want to support us, buying the music would be greatly appreciated…but just showing some love is enough for us.
