Meet Baylee Ann

Today we’d like to introduce you to Baylee Ann.

Baylee, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and raised in the weather stubborn Midwest, in Indianapolis to be exact! I moved to Arizona very shortly after I turned 18. I moved here by myself, knowing very few people, just some family friends, as well as one friend I had known since middle school. My number one goal was always to move out of Indiana when I turned 18, and that’s exactly what I did. My hometown was fun, but I craved something more! I thought, “if other people can move 1,700 miles+ away from home, then I can too”. I’ve been in Arizona for a year now. I decided to move to Arizona to pursue acting at Arizona State University.

I’ve been doing acting since I was really young. I attended a local youth theatre company doing multiple shows, short films and attending theatre summer camps before I graduated High School. I discovered that acting was my passion and what I wanted to do with my life. I spent a little bit of time in the summer of my sophomore year of high school in New York City as part of a summer teen acting program. I learned there that acting is a true way of storytelling, and I want to use my acting to inspire others through the stories of a character. I feel at home on a stage/in front of a camera. Right now, I work with Fair Maidens & Masks as my job, performing as character actors for kids parties, corporate events, etc.

I have also recently begun modeling, after some photographers, I befriended from acting encouraged me to do so. I discovered a newfound love for modeling. I recently began networking with other models and photographers in the Valley. Networking has really helped me meet other models/photographers and made me feel so supported throughout this new journey in my life. I’ve already learned so much already, and I can’t wait to keep learning. I spend my weeks focusing on my job, my education, my acting, auditions, and doing my photoshoots!

Has it been a smooth road?
With acting and modeling, there is always going to be rejection. It doesn’t matter how talented you are, how well you can perform the character, how good you audition, etc. there will always – without fail, be rejection. You really have to learn how to handle this, as being rejected can really bring you down. When I first started acting, I didn’t know how to handle the rejection I faced. I would cry, cry, and cry. It would make me question my abilities, my talent, and if I was good enough. Being the 15-year old I was, I was already facing the depths of the harsh realities of being a teenager and social pressure to be “perfect.” Nonetheless, I never gave up. Learning how to get past rejection is difficult but a breeze once you fully accept that just because you don’t get that one role, or that one modeling shoot, etc. doesn’t mean you can’t get the next one. I use that thought process to get me through everything now. While it’s only natural to feel sad when you’re rejected, you should never let it stop you or discourage you. Turning my rejection into motivation has been key for me.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the vibrant life of Scottsdale! I spend a lot of my time in Old Town, which means driving past the art, the restaurants, the cool buildings, and the people is always one of my favorites. I love knowing that everyone here has their own story. Living in Scottsdale has let me become more social, and walking outside to the sunshine every day is always a plus. Scottsdale is full of opportunities, which is what I love! The only thing I don’t like is the extremely hot summer weather! Being from the Midwest, it was really hard to adjust to that at first. But I got used to it!
