Meet Ayden Flynn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ayden Flynn.

So, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Doing hair was never the plan I had for myself. I either wanted to work with kids or the medical field. After graduating high school, I went to the traditional four-year college route. During this time, I went to two different universities in two different states, moved from my home in Ohio to Arizona, and changed my major more times than I can count. After three years of college, I decided that I was not passionate about anything I had studied, so I made the decision to take some time off to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I had started working at a cute little bridal store in Scottsdale and absolutely fell in love with the industry. There’s something so special about playing a huge role in making a brides most important day magical. After about a year at the bridal store, I ended up getting a second job working as a receptionist at a hair salon. Both of these jobs are what led me to cosmetology school! Braids, and updos, and styling hair quickly became my passion. So, here I am today- working to leave my mark in the bridal world as a hairstylist. I definitely have my own style. I love the textured boho looks, but I also love stepping outside of my comfort zone and experimenting with new looks and techniques!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t feel like anything in life comes without its own set of challenges. Cosmetology school took significantly longer than I had anticipated because I had to withdraw for a good year due to a very rough pregnancy. When my son was a few months old, I was able to go back to finish school. There was also definitely a point in time where I kept thinking, “What am I doing with my life? Am I making the right decision?”

Please tell us about your work.
I am a licensed hairstylist, located in the Gilbert area, and I am most passionate about event hair. I love doing updos and braided styles for weddings, prom, or other special events. I would have to say that the most important part of my job is making my clients feel special. They have selected me to be apart of one of the most important days of their lives, and I want to do my part of making their day magical.

Is there anyone in particular you would like to recognize? Mentors, etc?
There are so many people who have encouraged me and helped me to become the stylist I am today. My family will always be my biggest cheerleaders! My educators, in school and in salons, have played a crucial role in my development as a stylist. I also probably wouldn’t be where I am without those two jobs at the bridal store and the hair salon.
